PRINCE #5 ALL TIME GREATEST ATIST LIST

prince is #5 in the critics all time greatest artists list...compiled by taking the "best of the year" lists from critics around the world from the 50s to the present day, its the most indepth look at what is considered the best music of the last 50 years.
...prince is also rated the #1 artist of the 80s. the top ten is...

You could argue all week about the actual positions, surely the Stones are too high and Elvis too low, but you couldn't argue with any of them being in the Top Ten of all time. To see Prince in such a group of performers makes me happy as so many critics seem to have forgotten about him or written him off. He deserves his place in the list, and deserves it above Bowie and the Stones. The 3 artists who have inspired the most and continue to do so today would be Beatles, Dylan and Prince.

I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE ROLLING STONES BEING TOO HIGH BUT THE LIST IS THE BEST I'VE SEEN. ITS ALL SUBJECTIVE OF COURSE.

those lists dont mean shit. where is miles davis in here? john coltrane? ravi shankar? james brown? who makes those lists and with which motives? what do we learn from this? damn, I couldnt even make up a list like that for my personal favorite artists without leaving fairness behind. its embarassing.

Pound,Pound Where is Earth,Wind&Fire? etc...the list was too White Based&Narrow-Minded for my taste.but they never get it right.

I have a feeling it was basically a pop/rock/r&b music based poll.

Oh, and as far as criteria, I haven't read the site yet, but I agree with you about the motives in general.
