On a whim, last night, I checked out the video for "The Greatest Romance", and I started checking into interviews and performances from the 98-99 era. I eventually ended the night with the NY Press Conference when Prince became... Prince, again.
Maybe we connected somehow because...

Last night, I had a dream about meeting Prince. My very first one. It was unbelievable. I had no idea how long his hair was, but I'm pretty sure he was 39, 40 or 41 year-old Prince, just getting off the high of being emancipated from WB. It's strange cuz he ended up staying for my family for a while for no apparent reason, just during the tour I guess. And I got to see him all the time with his notebook and such. He gave a couple of my friends (got no idea which ones, lol) autographs and he gave me one... but only said "Thanx [my name]".
So later on in the dream, I asked him what inspires him. He said "everything." Then I asked, "just like other artists?" He shook his head, "No, it comes from in here." I turn to him and he's pointing to his heart with his right hand. I gave a smile, "So you write from your heart?" Then he nodded with a smile.
At the end of the dream, he was leaving and I chased after him because I guess I wanted to tell him (can't believe i didnt do so already) what an incredible person he is. He followed me back cuz he apparently forgot somethign... then I woke up... I checked my clock... it was around 6:33 am. And I said out loud "Thank you so much."

I figure that it has to be a sign. Like I should check into his work from that short era... It's strange over the past 7 weeks, I've thought about him 24/7, but couldn't dream about it. I said he'd make an appearance when he felt he needed to. I gave my mind completely to the Housequake videos I watched last night, with no second thoughts or distractions. I didnt even think about the aspect of dreaming, if only for a second. Prince must have thought it was the perfect time to appear in my dream when I wasn't expecting him, that I had the full right to see what he was really like and get something out of the dream.

I gotta say, seeing him in person, even if it was only in the dream world, is so completey different than I thought. There was just something incredible about just being around him that I didnt get from the interviews or performances. There's still something else to Prince that can only be seen in person. I sure hope dream Prince is a lot like Prince in reality. Sorry this is a little off topic, but I couldn't help sharing my first Prince dream with everyone here.

Wow, what a cool dream! I love having those types of dreams about Prince, they are so awesome.

Yeah, the thread didn't die... well, it won't be around for a long time, but I figured that I'd tell you guys.

It was the coolest thing, though. You don't know anyone until you talk with them in person and the dream proves that. Prince is so deep just to hear him say that his music comes from his heart made me so happy. He really does live for his art.

True, but I don't think it'd be the same as hearing him say it in person, face to face. It made me feel like I really "get him". I like to think that I understand Prince and while I might not completely understand him, the dream proves that I'm at least on the right track.

Sweet. Although I've listened so much to our Prince for the last 3-4 years and I've spent quite some time here I've only had one dream about P. It was a very short one and all I got to experience was seeing him play the guitar on stage. I don't even know what he played. There I have the opportunity to experience the most amazing things with Prince and that's all I get. Just typical

Prince works in mysterious ways. I believed that he'd only appear in my dreams if he felt it had some purpose. He definitely wants me to connect with him again, meaning that I have to listen to an album where we had some type of connection. I'm leaning towards 3121, but I might just play a few tracks from TGE. I'll see what I feel like doing after getting a bite to eat.

I definitely feel that way after having the dream. I knew that when I wanted to dream about him, but couldn't, there was a reason for it. He somehow felt that this time in particular was the right time to make an appearance.

I've yet to figure out why, but I'm sure in the next few hours (or day) I'll figure out what he was trying to tell me thru it.

The understanding is that he can't cater to my every need. Sometimes I'd get emotional over his work and beg to dream about him so he could set me straight. He doesn't work like that... I can't make him come to me... he'll come to me on his own terms. The man works in mysterious ways and he proved that last night.

I can see how you would feel that way though. Prince always seems very ethereal. I have to admit, my dreams did start shortly before I actually met him, . But I see it as a coincidence rather than a connection.

I think it's just the fact that he has a strong aura and can impact your psyche as such. I don't read too much into it because I wouldn't wanna get too deep into "Princey world" . I just laugh, send him positive thoughts and go back to sleep.

I dreamt about standing in line for a Prince concert the night b4 the HalfTime show performance (I was gonna watch the game anyway cuz I like football)... I'd say it's fate. I was meant to become the fan I am now after watching him in the show. (Don't get me wrong, that's not my first Prince performance).

Here is a dream that I had about Prince once. I'm not sure where I was, maybe at Paisley Park or somewhere else. Anyway, in my dream, I was talking to a good friend of mine who told me that she had just met Prince. I remember thinking, "Well, damn, I want to meet him too!" So I approached one of Prince's bodyguards to ask him if a meeting with Prince would be possible. He told me that it would be no problem at all, and to stand behind a white gate. So I waited, and along comes Prince, looking like a million bucks, as usual. In my dream, he was the Graffiti Bridge era Prince, with the long hair and beard, and he was all dressed in white.

I said "Hi" to Prince, gave him a hug, and then we sat down to talk. I told him, "I really loved your 0(+> album" (that was the album that had just been released at the time of my dream). Prince looks at me and says, "Ooooh, I doubt it." And I said, "Why, why do you doubt it?". Prince then says, "Just a minute", then he closes his eyes and dozes off for a minute. He then jumps awake, looks at me, and says, "What?" I said, "I didn't say anything".

So then we continued talking, and Prince tells me that he's doing a concert at a college called Wesleyan in Indiana. He offers to give me some tickets to see the show. Now this is the hilarious part, because I told him no. I told him, "I can't take the tickets from you, that would be stealing". Now you know that if Prince would have offered me those tickets in real life, I would have gladly accepted them, no questions asked.

Then we talked about some other stuff that I can't really remember. But the one thing I remember Prince saying is, "2morrow, u will be dressed in white." Another funny thing about the dream was that Prince had some of those stuffed Ziggy cartoon characters sitting on the table. There must have been about 6 or 8 of them, and they were arranged neatly in even rows. He also had a bunch of papers sitting on the table too.

I woke up all excited, in fact, I was so excited that I could not go back to sleep. It was such a cool dream, one that I will never forget. I went to work that day and told a friend of mine about the dream, and he was like, "Damn, girl!"

So anyway that was my Prince dream that I wanted to share. Just remembering this dream brings back all the excited feelings I felt when I first had it.

Because of the dream, I'm looking into TGE to get a feel for it. The last time, I just felt like it had so much edge to it that it clashed with 80's Prince (namely "Purple Rain" the film).

Now I'll look at it in isolation until I feel ready to move onto a diff. era. I definitely like what I hear (might start a thread on this...) but thanks to his message to me in the dream, I found his heart in "Eye Hate U", the first song I got when I put the CD in random. And I'm slowly classifying the tracks on whether they're more like Prince material or material.

Prince is one of those rare artists whose work truly has meaning and is deserving of the word "inspirational". If he encourages you to remain open, and aware and growth oriented than listen to it from any angle you choose! I'm sure he has sparked/assisted a desire for enlightenment for lots of fans.

You couldn't be more right. Prince truly is inspirational. I've always seen him that way. Way before I really cared what came out of his mouth (this was b4 I came the fan I am... when I was very causal in my approach to him), his presence on the stage was the one thing that kept my glues glued to the screen. He's always had that presence that amazed me.

And I have no doubt that he's reached out other fans in different ways. And he's helped me them more than he's helped me (at least up to this point). That's why I felt so priviledged that he made an appearance.

If anything, having the dream brought me a little closer to him... and that means a lot.
