To who? ok, ok, I was in Japan (mainland) and Sugarfoot (Ohio Players) was on stage groovin and this guy asked me to dance, well, i'm not that great of a dancer but i took a shot and my left foot crossed with the other left foot right in front of Sugarfoot. Very embarrising. [Edited 3/21/07 13:47pm] "I don't make the rules. I just play"

What does Fam stand for or what does it mean?

My fam outs have been solely sartorial or coiffure-ial in nature. At no time, however, have I ever worn the symbol. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's a term Prince made up to describe his fans. He doesn't like the word 'fan' because it's short for 'fanatic'. 'Fam' on the other hand is short for 'family'. But most people I know don't like the term 'fam' and it's become kind of a mock word for an overly obsessed fan!! Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I think of a "fam" as more of a fanatic- anyone who'd actually refer to him/herself as a "fam" to a non-Prince fan with a straight face and not expect the Genesia said: At no time, however, have I ever worn the symbol.
Now I don't think that's so bad. I wouldn't permanently ink into my skin, but I do own a gold, silver and 'rose' version. I wear them to concerts. (Not together!) Exactly. It kind of back-fired on him, because the only people who refer to themselves as 'fams' are usually the real fanatics Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I have a thing about labels. I don't wear obvious designer garb, I don't wear team regalia...hell, I don't even wear obvious endorsements of my alma mater. (I wear the colors, but no insignia.) I figure...if someone wants me to advertise for them, they gotta pay me -- not the other way around. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I never tried to contact the man himself, but these are the fammiest things I've done.
When the Black Album was first circulating, a local newspaper columnist wrote about it. I wrote to the guy and asked where I could get a copy. When I didn't get a reply, I wrote another, angry letter, which also wasn't answered. Once when he was on Letterman (the time he sang "Dolphin"), I went to the theater and asked people on line if they would sell their ticket to me. I only had the nerve to ask a couple people, because they looked at me like I was crazy. I did get to see him leave the building in a hail of camera flashes. He had so much makeup on he looked like a clown. Also during the o(+> era, one halloween I carved a pumpkin with his symbol in it. On one side were the words "Love God" and on the other "Be Wild." It looked pretty awesome. I took pictures, but I have only hardcopies of them, unfortunately, or I'd share. Maybe I should've mailed it to him. [Edited 3/22/07 10:08am]

one night P asked us to come to paisley park 'dressed to the nine's for a video filming. so i wore a black skirt and matching black jacket with my favorite sun and moon pins... couldn't really find the right blouse so decided to be 'cool' and wear no shirt underneath. the jacket sort of permitted this and i stitched it closed so it wouldn't reveal too much. ha, or so i thought.
well, about the time someone shone a spotlight on me i happened to glance down and see that my jacket had popped open and let's just say my lack of shirt was quite evident. ultimately my effort to be cool resulted in just the opposite. dang. [Edited 3/22/07 10:46am]
