Agreed. And it was apparently a recording mistake the way that the vocals overlap. Prince liked it, and kept it that way.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yep, one of his best "mistakes" ever IMO.

It's not really "amazing," but I love that in Alphabet St., the background vox doesn't match up with Prince's on what year the "white rad ride" is--'66 vs. '67. Little things like that really make me appreciate Prince, especially the '80s stuff--it was like nothing was too small for him to devote extra attention to.

And from the same album, I'll nominate Positivity's background voice as really great, adding an extra dimension to the song.

Great choice.

Alot of the ballads on Emancipation have some amazing background voices (Prince's in different octaves). I especially love "One Kiss at a Time" - amazing vocals and spacing.

Yeah, me too, I was listening to this this morning and was really amazed how the background and main vocal take turns at leading, just weaving in and out of each other; absolutely amazing!

Also, I Wish U Heaven's background vocals are totally sublime. Check it out again y'all!!
