Question about Crystal Ball ok Org'ers, saw Crystal Ball for $29.99 today. i've seen on here a couple of posts that explain that some are 3 discs and some 4, the 4th disc being the acoustic Truth CD. is there a way to tell from the packaging? i couldn't open the disc as it was in the plastic rectangle thingy. i wanted to splurge regardless but i haven't "comparison shopped" yet. same thing goes for replacing my Gold Exp. cd, they had it used for $14.99. i think i can beat that at another store that doesn't know its out of print.

I'm not sure about CB but 14.99 for TGE sounds reasonable. I haven't been able to find it that cheap and have been looking recently.
I bought CB in a wrecka store when it came out and it included the Truth. Mine has the white background cover. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

None of these were sold to stores in anything but a four disc set. If there are three discs in the box then it was opened and a disc was removed or a mistake was made at the packing stage. The only other version of Crystal Ball is the five disc set that was exclusively available through the web site in 1997.

The 5th(Kamasutra Orchestra) disc was only part of the clear plastic "petri dish" set. This 5-disc version was available at Best Buy stores(I bought one) before the pre-orders from 1-800-NEW-FUNK arrived at peoples homes.
http://www.noiseland.com/gallery/ There was also a 4-disc set in the clear packaging and a 4-disc set in a double thick jewel case. All sets had The Truth and the 3 Crystal Ball discs. . By all means, pick that Gold Experience CD up! $14.99 is a steal for a CD that is out-of-print. It's in many people's top-5 list of Prince CDs. My advice: get it home, make an "everyday-listening" copy of it and put the original away.

[Edited 3/22/07 18:41pm] Actually...I bought my "petri dish" CB at Best Buy on the day it came out and it did not have Kamasutra. Imagine my dismay when I ultimately bought Kamasutra separately through the NPGMC and realized what a piece of dreck it is. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

If it's in a double-thick jewel case, then it's almost certainly 4 discs (not 5). I don't think there was a version at all that only had 3 discs . . . If it's in the hockey-puck "Crystal Ball" case, you can easily see how many are in there.

I think both versions of the Crystal Ball packages come with The Truth. The only difference is that the hockey puck version comes with Kamasutra also. I'd say buy it. The Truth is worth $30 alone, imo. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com
