I hate when people think he hasnt released any music since 1984 just cause it wasn't as commercial as Purple Rain.
I was watching the Superbowl with a friend and she was telling me what a HUUUGE Prince fan she was and how she used to play his casettes to death then I said "How good is Sign Of The Times?" and she said "....huh? Don't know that one"
Obviously the only tapes she listened to were Purple Rain and 1999  Cause then she said, "he hasnt released anything in 20 years"
And I have a friend who is mildly homophobic and instantly hates on Prince because of the androdgony so I showed him the Brits and he was like ".....ok so he's good at guitar,shut up"  | |

Man, that ain't cool. Prince is for everybody. My dad was the one who introduced me to his music. I think it's because my dad has a greater appreciation with artists that write their own music... Prince is far beyond my original expectations of him as just a songwriter who plays guitar. This thread really shows how shallow non-fans, the ignorant public and haters can be. On a lighter note, not really a pet peeve, but definitely drives me nuts....whenever I visit my parents (I'm east coast they're west coast) almost every day during my visit my Dad will tell me the same joke, or to my neice if she's there..... Guess where they found Micheal Jackson's other glove? In Prince's pants! He thinks it's so funny and no matter how much we protest, he tells it anyways!
