Do people even write anymore? Isn't that one of the lost arts? When was the last time anyone here hand wrote a letter...and mailed it? Like in a mailbox.
If I ever felt inclined to pick up a pen and write someone, I'd probably end up scanning it and e-mailing it anyway. What can I say?...I'm a romantic. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

I wrote him a letter back in 85 or 86...I was about 14. I did get a post card back from Warner Brothers, it had Prince in a white lace outfit on the front. I cherished that thing like Prince had wrote back himself. Of course I was only a teenager. LOL! Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

I wrote a letter back in 1980 to the fan club address on the inside sleeve of the "Dirty Mind" album. It was basically just saying that I really loved his music. A few months later, I received a post card that was a black and white photo of Prince with a bandana around his neck. It was signed "My all, Prince". It was a stamp but, at the time, I thought it was a real autograph.
In 1987, I wrote to the address on the inside sleeve of the "Sign O The Times" album. In the letter, I basically said how much I had loved his music since 1979 but what the hell happened to him after "Purple Rain". I said I kept buying every album afterwards....ATWIAD, Parade, and Sign O The Times... only to be disappointed every time. In the letter I said he needs to go back to his old style and that everyone I knew wanted the "Old Prince" back. A few months later I received a post card that was a picture of Prince in a yellow suit. I had both the post cards, along with my poster from the Controversy album, poster from the Delirious 45, and poster from the Purple Rain album in a dresser drawer. My Rick James poster from the "Reflections" album was in the same drawer along with a lot of "Right On" and "Rock and Soul" magazines. When I got to the new house, all that shit was gone. The movers must have stolen it. Andy is a four letter word.

I wrote a letter to him about 3 weeks ago using the Paisley Park address. He'll never see it I'm certain of that. It just felt liberating to express myself and I'd do it again...I'm a dreamer I know, but if I ever met him I'd never bring up that letter...It was pretty clean and only asked him to consider something for his future plans with respect to teaching kids about music in a school of funk kind of way.

Now there's a story just needing to be told. Spill it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

When Prince was at Bryant Park I ran over to the stage and tried to give the drummer the letter to give to him. At first she apologized and said she couldn't give it to him. I told her I understood and I began to walk away. Shortly after I got back with my friends they were yelling at me telling me that she was trying to get my attention to take the letter from me but I couldn't hear her because of the crowd. Man that really bit. I still have hope that I will get a letter to him. One day. "......I gotta' lotta' butta' 2 go"

Now there's a story just needing to be told. Spill it. Prince was on BET being interviewed by Tavis Smiley years ago and one of the callers called in and asked him why he was so hard to get close to or something like that. Prince started telling the story about how he used to read his fan letters and used to correspond to this one fan until she suddenly showed up at his doorstep and didn't want to leave. When you think about it that's kind of scary. [Edited 3/22/07 15:56pm]

I like to think I understand him, but there's something I always miss/overlook... and its kinda hard to know someone w/o having met them. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Guess the fan thought Prince was her boyfriend or something because they were writing letters to each other. I wonder if she's still a fan of his and if she still has those letters? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I've wanted to write him before.
and no, not just to tell him know how much he's meant to me.. but to TALK to him. to have the chance to exchange thoughts back and forth with him. That's why you write people isn't it. I mean, I know that most celebrities don't read/respond to letters and such.. but why? I mean honestly, if it weren't for the FANS these people would NOT be where they are today. So what is the big deal in paying them back by replying to a simple letter or too. I mean, I may never know why but it still makes you wonder....
