I think that those seriously writing on this board are saddened by Prince's loss and just wonder about it. I would like to once again state that anyone who is offended by something (such as this topic) shouldn't take part in it. I never said that-it was someone else's comment. I merely posted a smiley-get it right before you assume. I said this isn't right and that's what I meant-no shame here to say that. I know what you meant nurse

The tragic loss of Prince and Mayte's child was especially sad for me because I was always watching that "Betcha By Golly Wow" vid all the time in the fall of '06. I found out I was pregnant with my first child on November 20. 1996 and I was humming BBGW while I was waiting for the pregnancy test to come back positive. I had my son in the summer of '97 and now when i look back on it I rememeber the vid for BBGW and how happy P seemed when he found out Mayte was pregnant. It is indeed sad, but death is a part of life and I have my son but I have also experienced loss and time helps the healing process.

Out of respect for Prince, and Mayte, I think we shouldn't discuss it. im not speaking as a mod here (cause i don't moderate this forum) but if thats the cause we might as well shut the entire site down then cause half the stuff on this site is could be considered disrespectful. i agree with booyah that the thread title could be perceived as negative but i highly doubt that was the intent of the thread author. as far as the subject its self. i really don't think it would have changed prince much...he would still be the same arrogant musical genius who loves to contradict himself either way. I have to agree with you on this. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

My prayers still go out to Prince and Mayte. I pray that no one here will have to endure a pain as great as that. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I feel you Paisley. My son was born in 96. Sometimes I'll walk in his room at night while he's sleep and thank GOD for blessing my wife and I with him. He is a gift.him,I even can't stand the thought of losing my son....like all parents here. I agree with booyah, wrong title! I guess Prince & Mayte could still be 2gether

If this topic is insensitive or innappropriate, then so are half the threads here. Face it guys, we talk about some damn personal aspects of P.'s life sometimes.
But I don't think we need to have this thread locked or avoid the subject of the loss of Prince's child. Like a lot of artists, Prince's work is heavily influenced by his personal life. Every change in his career or music was directly linked to something in his real life, and if one or two things had gone differently for him at any point, the Prince we know today would be a vastly different figure. I think if we can manage to approach this -or any other topic -like the mature grownups we claim to be, there shouldn't be a problem. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I agree and if I can add to this, the baby was also a part of his music too. Emancipation had songs like Sex in the Summer with the baby's heartbeat or My Computer when he talked about having a child and having a lot to explain. It's a part of Prince's life and history and it should not be ignored at all. It should be respected and I believe that is happening right now with this thread. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". With all due respect to Prince and Mayte's tragedy, I find it fucking ha-LARIOUS that most of the "this shouldn't be posted" comments come from these females who are drooling over Prince's EVERY physical characteristic on every other thread. That shit is CRAZY inappropiate (not to mention annoying). Get over it!!
It would be rude and inappropiate if someone were to mock or disregard the child's death. No such thing transpired here. It wasn't yer child that passed (although alot of you psycho broads wish it was), so yer over-defensiveness about this is troubling. I reckon some of you have men at home. Go get a camera, make a movie of said man in his drawls, then search for his "special appearance".

That's the exact reason even a lot of people who otherwise loved Emancipation have a hard time listening to it. But ignoring or not talking about the fact that Prince went through a parent's worst nightmare will not mean it didn't happen, or didn't have an effect on him and by extension what we listen to. The Prince fanbase has a lot of issues to deal with in how they think and speak about the man IMO. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
