Robert Randolph working with Prince

I just saw him on VH1 saying he's going to start working with Prince in a couple of weeks

Right! lol

And eventhough it was broadcast on VH1 doesn't mean anything will come of it.

i don't think Prince's ego could cope with his ability, Rob just totally kills the Blues. I truly hope that IF it is true that 1] it's not a disappointment and 2] it actually gets released.

Check Robert Randolph out on this recording called "The Word", an instrumental album on Ropeadope Records. This record has a strong gospel feel produced the the very very talented John Medeski (another guy prince should work with) and Scotty Hard. I strongly recommend this recording to true prince fans. You wont be dissapointed.
There's this jam that Prince does with Sonny,Michael,Morris,Tommy and I'm sure Mayte was there shakin her fine ass that is on the end of "None of Business" from the "Welcome to the Beautiful Experience" concert cd that has this very gospel feel to it. I've always longed for more of it. "The Word" is the cd that gave me more.
I can't wait to hear what they do together.

I've seen Robert Randolph & His Family Band play live in San Francisco about 3 years back. Excellent performance. This could be good!

For those of you who bought the Jimi Hendrix tribute for Purple House, Robert Randolph did a song on it...check it out.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This would be very cool. That guy is incredible. The real deal is probably that Prince gave RR a pre-produced song.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

That's awesome. It's nice to hear that he's going to work with a man as opposed to a woman for a change. Now will this music ever get released?
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Robert Randolph plays the slide guitar. I saw him a couple years back before they performed with Outkast on the Grammy's. Great musicians and great music.

Love his song "Ain't nothing wrong with that"

Robert Randolph is "amazing"..."awesome". When I first saw himm play on a television show I was taken by his guitar playing. I couldn't figure out what kind of instrument that was he was playing until I read about it somewhere. You could tell he definitely had a "church" influence. I believe it was either ET or Access Hollywood that interviewed him about 2 years ago, which is when I first saw him play.

I've seen Robert Randolph three times this past year- once with Santana and twice in concert... he is AMAZING! On New Year's Eve, his show was off the hook! The energy level was off the charts! I would love to see the two of them together! nod

cool

This cat is no joke but I wonder if the track will ever get released 2 the public. Prince has been recording like a mad man.....but NOTHING new is out.

I don't get it.

Hmmm, perhaps Prince enjoys the process of recording, jamming, and creating new tunes - it's just the hassle of creating an album, getting a publishing deal, promoting the album, that he no longer enjoys.
