Prince's kid would be 10 years old this year.

Just found it interesting to think about.

Wonder what would have been different in regards to his music, output quantity, touring, etc.

thoughts?

that's too sad to talk about sad

Actually, on one of his and Mayte's interviews, didn't they say the child was born in October 2006?? I think the interview was the Today show in Dec. 2006.

Yes, October 16th.

What do you mean 'don't have the right to'?

I'm not saying anything bad.

I think it's clear that his music, etc. would be significantly different. I'm just curious what other's thoughts are about what would be different.

Unless this is North Korea or China, I don't think it's a problem to discuss such things.

Agreed. I think this is best left undiscussed. We have the right, of course, I just think it's a little insensitive.

A huge problem with our world today is that people don't understand that just because you can doesn't mean you should.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't think that it's insensitive to talk about. I've thought about this many times and wonder how Prince as a person would be different having a child. Although, the people on this board that feel it is too insensitive, I'm curious to know why they bothered to look at this posting in the first place if it is too sad to look at?

I never had the courage 2 say anything about it. i was also thinking about this last year. but yea mayb we shouldn't discuss prince child.

R.I.P lil greg aka Prince Jr.

i 4 think it iz horrible to have ur baby "pass" (cheerful euphemism) after it's born. i kno my aunt has had about 6 children and only 2 of them lived more than 2 weeks. sad

onli thing that made me mad was how prince acted like he didn't wanna break down on oprah he just said "it's all good never mind wat chu hear". srry prince confused
hav u had ur + sign 2 day.
eye wish u heaven
worship GOD

I think that's totally reasonable, and grounds for a good discussion - in which case the topic could be titled "how would Prince be different if he were a father?". Framing it in terms of his child that died tragically at two weeks old, and which was clearly a very personal topic for Prince and Mayte - that's the part that seems insensitive to me.

I agree that this is a topic that shouldn't be posted here.

Out of respect for Prince, and Mayte, I think we shouldn't discuss it.

im not speaking as a mod here (cause i don't moderate this forum) but if thats the cause we might as well shut the entire site down then cause half the stuff on this site is could be considered disrespectful.

i agree with booyah that the thread title could be perceived as negative but i highly doubt that was the intent of the thread author.

as far as the subject its self. i really don't think it would have changed prince much...he would still be the same arrogant musical genius who loves to contradict himself either way.

Hm. How liberal and generous of you. wink

Seriously though, what the hell is up with everyone freaking out and wanting a thread like this locked? Is everyone that thin-skinned? It IS an interesting thing to contemplate, a time-line marker of sorts in Prince's life and seemed to be offered up for discussion in a respectful and inquisitive way.

For Christ's sake, someone actually offered up a link for charitable contributions as a DIRECT RESULT of this "awful, awful thread".

R.I.P., Boy Gregory, and all love to Prince and Mayte.

Didn't you post on another board that Prince can jack u off???
Isn't that just as inappropriate?
I think that those seriously writing on this board are saddened by Prince's loss and just wonder about it.

I would like to once again state that anyone who is offended by something (such as this topic) shouldn't take part in it.

Stupid org...

I thought for sure that his baby was born the same day as my daughter, Oct. 16th, 1995?????

Or maybe my old age is really showing and I am mistaken.

I would think that he would have been a bit different. Sadly we would never know. Having children is life changing for many people and if he could completely do a 180 from the Prince of the sex, cussing Dirty Mind days to the scripture reading JW, I think it's totally conceivable that the music would have evolved into a different sound as he embarked on the 'experience' of fatherhood. But even if it had, he would still be Prince & completely able to rock out funky tunes when he felt the need to. JMO

I never said that-it was someone else's comment. I merely posted a smiley-get it right before you assume. I said this isn't right and that's what I meant-no shame here to say that.
