he said its being passed around in the underground jazz circuit, he first heard it when one of his own band mates was playing a few licks from West during a break, and couldn't believe it... Oh please, these guys couldn't find their arses if you provided a map. They just "like" this stuff because they think it is obscure and leftfield. As for fans liking it: that's just them pretending to be oh so smart: "look at me I'm listening to JAZZ" -- as if that means something. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

All this talk about NEWS prompted me to play it again. I had never played it on my computer. I had always played it in my car or on my CD player. After inserting the CD in my computer, it launched Macromedia Flash and I sat there, like a pinhead, for about 7 minutes as a maze of letters ever so slowly pulled apart to reveal the following phrase: "Don't forget to drink your Ovaltine." Just kidding.
It said: "He Causes 2 Become." Sorry if this thread has been already talked 2 death. Any speculation on wtf that means? With Prince, you gotta figure it's some pseudo-religious, end of the world shit. Any ideas? I'm now just getting around to giving this CD another test drive. And enjoying my Ovaltine.

N.E.W.S. is brilliant. it's what those jazz stations (you know the ones, Kenny G "smooth jazz" sleep-inducing-music-playing stations) should be playing.
I gave it to a barista at an eclectic coffeeshop and she cranked it after one of their open mic nights.. everyone in the place dug it, and we are talking folks of all breeds (most of them in their early 20s, I might add). They were amazed it was Prince. Those who appreciate music, even non-fans, always dig his eclectic stuff. I got the same response playing Kamasutra for a bunch of musicians back when that was out. Anyone who knows music loves this stuff. open yo mind, the entire universe you'll find
