Howard Stern, Warren Zevon & Raspberry Beret

I was listening to the Stern show this morning & Howard reported that Warren Zevon, the dude who made "Wherewolves of London," is dying within weeks. sad As a tribute he played some of his songs, including a cover he did of Raspberry Beret. omfg IT WAS HORRIBLE, very folksy, whole-wheat-breadish, maybe the worst Prince cover EVER done. Makes Tom Jones' "Kiss" sound genious. :O

Of course they all liked it, Howard said it was "rockin'" omg & he liked it better than Prince's version. shake AMAZINGLY, Robin (notorious for dumber-than-shit comments) was the sole voice of reason - she mocked the song & said she liked P's better. wink

Man, I wish you guys could have heard it. It was unbelievably bad. eyepop Did anyone else hear it?

Do I hear crickets? boxed

Do I like emoticons WAY too much? nod
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

The cover of Raspberry Beret was actually by "Hindu Love Gods" which was basically (REM - Stipe) + Zevon. I think.

Yea, they mentioned it was Zevon along w/ another group but I couldn't remember which one. It was Zevon on vocals though, right?

Yep. But blame REM if the cover sucked; it was almost certainly their idea (they were known to admire Prince in the 80s... again, from memory).

Yea, but Zevon's vocals sucked more ass than an ass sucking contest! There's enough blame to go around & he certainly deserves some... wink
