All 7 and we'll watch them fall.....freakin' amazing!

Just when you're starting to wonder what separates Prince from every other musician out there, you're listening to a song that you've heard a thousand times before and something hits you like a ton of bricks.

It just happened to me as I was listening to 7 on my headphones. This song has to have one of the catchiest and most powerful choruses in the history of pop music. The last time the chorus kicks in, it sounds as if it has a choir of a hundred people, yet it's only one man.

It's really amazing when you think that only one person is responsible for what you're hearing. Then you remind yourself that this one little tiny man is responsible for all these sounds and songs that we love so much.

Only Prince could create a song as magnificent and original as 7(even using the sample it has). Think about all the "hot" producers around today, and their best efforts don't even come close to this song.

I like the song too. It aged well. My fav remix of the track is 7 (Acoustic Version).

7 is one of my all time favorite Prince songs. Amazing how Prince took the Book of Revelation, added incredible vocals(some of his most powerful ever imo) and set it to a great track!

I think he'S talking about the 7 men (from the original/full story of prince) going down (like the wall of Cairo (!?)biggrin), with those 7 men representing the 7 big players in the record industry (at that time that was, today, it'S like 1 and a half companies). Those men were trying to steal the 3 chains of gold which represented the soul of the artist, thus the womb of his creations. You get the idea, inspiration/art etc being so(u)l(e)d out, Prince didn't want these corporates to do that to him, he rather chose to do it to himself...

Somewhere in the annals (sic) of my mind I recall seeing a documentary where Levi was at the mixing desk talking about Prince's vocal layering, and I'm sure he was using the 7 vocal tracks to demonstrate. Anyone else remember or am I going crazy?

True...true...goes 2 show the public will love a song regardless of what's it about as long as it's got a great hook...and 7 does have IT!!
