HATS OFF TO 'GUITAR'

I must say that 'GUITAR' is single-handedly the most clever Pop song Mr. Nelson has written this decade!

For those of you who haven't yet heard it, you'll want to find & own this one FOR SURE... biggrin

It's very average imo.
It's funky for a couple of listens but i'm bored with it now.
I just can't believe all the things people say !

That's what makes a great pop song though- SIMPLICITY!

It reminds me of a song The Beatles would have written way back when, except it's so -> unmistakably <- Prince and it's just so damn TRUE!

I really, really adore his pop songwriting/formula best; he can do lots more, but this is where I feel his genious truly excels.

Paul McCartney should cover it- I can totally hear him singing it!

And now I'll be singing it all week-

Ta Mr. Nelson!

Y'know why it reminds u of something the beatles would have once written don't u? thats right, the chorus is stolen from the beatles track 'back in the USSR'

The statement that it is the most clever pop song he has done this decade is very debatable. Guitar is a nice song, but not his best.
I would put other pop type songs before it..like lolita or cinnamon girl just to name a few from this decade.

Strangely enough, what attracted me to this song was that it kinda sounded like Talking Heads (another all-time favorite band).
NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Same thing happened 2 me. Good thing I backed it up the day I downloaded it. After buying Prince downloads for the past 7 years, you learn to do that because they may be gone forever...quickly.

It's a great track. Not only is it catchy, but Prince is actually confessing he loves his music more than another human being. That's pretty real.

I like this song. It has a Dez Dickerson influence (not in a hard rock way, but in a pop/rock sense).

I must admit to quite liking it, though I do love just about everything Prince releases.

Had a sort of 80's B track sound, not a bad thing IMO!!
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?
