You might be a PurpleNeck if...

* You check prince.org or any other Prince site every 2 minutes to see if there are any news.

* You spend so much time on this site that even your family doesn't know you're still alive.

* You get mad when Prince is not listed among the sexiest men alive.

* You know that Prince is your future husband.

* You love EVERYTHING he does.

* You spend most of your time complaining about Prince's new oh-so-lame single.

* You can't be friends with anyone who doesn't like him.

* You are much more concerned about Prince's well-being than your own.

* You think Prince should run for president.

I bolded the ones I agree with.

I italicized that one because I love 95% of what he does (that I've heard so far). And I check this site every single day and refresh it every 5 minutes.

Also
* you check out the site often and freak out when your computer's being stupid and says "cannot find server" every couple of hours.

roflmoa @ "Marty Garcia". hah!

There's a really poorly made budget DVD called "Prince: The Reign of the Prince of Ages", and in it they actually refer to Mayte as "Marty". There's a handful of other mistakes in it, too. So much for fact-checking.

You would think that they would check their facts before putting out a DVD. The people who made it obviously were not Prince fans. lol

You include at least one Prince song on every mix CD you make for friends, hoping it will win them over to "The Purple Side".

You paid full price for "1999: The New Master".

You know more about music contracts and copyright laws just from your ineterest in Prince's affairs with Warner Bros.

You sometimes still check the Prince section of music stores, even though you have every official release and know that there's no new CD on the horizon.

If you've grown up listening to Prince and use Prince album releases as your point of reference for past events.

For example, I met my friend Dave around when "Sign O' the Times" came out, so that means I've known him for 20 years. And, my new eye doctor was asking me to remember how long it's been since I had LASIK surgery. I remember having the surgery shortly after "Diamonds and Pearls" came out, so I know that that was in late 1991, a little over 15 years ago. If not for that point of reference, I doubt I'd remember the year.

You might be a PurpleNeck if you listen to the same Prince song over and over again, because you can't get enough of it. I'm guilty of doing that, in fact, right now, I've got "White Mansion" on repeat, because I just love this song so much.

I'm gonna try not to do that... I think I did that with Gold for a day... but I stopped cuz I couldn't stop doing this cry... there's a limit to how long I wanna cry, even in the case of Prince.

Doing so would make me sick of a song, so I don't want to.

But I agree you're a PurpleNeck if you do that.

I know I am, but not for this reason in particular.

You have been late to work cuz you were frantically going through your Prince CD section looking for a particular CD and couldn't find it.

When listening to "The Hits and B-Sides", find yourself launching into the song on the original CD after something, (i.e. "Uptown" --> "Head") and find the fact that on disc 2, the fact that "Delirious" comes BEFORE "Little Red Corvette" is just WRONG!

You get hyped on June 7

You know how to do the "I Would Die 4 U" motions correctly

If you're a Black American, like me, you still get inwardly pissed at all of the Black shows, conferences, history month references, radio shows, etc. that go on and on and on about Black music, Motown, pioneers, etc.- you know anything that "defines Black music" because Prince is omitted 90% of the time

I thought of a few more.....

You are still appalled at the part in DMSR where he says "Negroes say ooh, oh, allright, allright" because even though you were only 8 when that song came out, you knew we (Black Americans) hadn't been called Negroes since the 1950's/60's- but it was still somehow OK cuz it was Prince

You think that even though TLC's cover of "If I Was Your Girlfriend" was great, the words made better sense when Prince sung them

You were EXCITED when it was 1999, and it felt really weird when you wrote checks, etc. with the date on them cuz you were inwardly thinking "It's finally here!"

lol, I start doing the motions during the last few times I was watching the movie.

This year will be my first year getting hyped for June 7th... but next year will be even crazier (does anyone else believe that Prince is going on 50 next year? ... I mean, there's no freaking way...)
