It's Take Prince to Work Day!

Prince has never had a job outside of music, so lets give him a chance to work in the real world. Pretend for a moment that you get to take Prince to work with you for a day. He will be your assistant for the entire day, which means YOU are the boss!

What time will he have to show up?

What will he need to wear?

What tasks will you give him to do?

What would your co-workers think of your new assistant?

I work as an office assistant at an oceanography firm in Seattle. My co-workers are scientists who are almost always out in the field, so Prince and I would probably be working with very few people. Prince would have to show up at 8am. There is really no dress code here, so he would fit in if he wore jeans, a hoodie and some sneakers, but I don't think he would wear that! I usually dress a little nicer since I'm at the front desk, so he would look fine if he wore a suit.

I would have him help me box up old invoices to put in the warehouse, get the mail for me, make a fresh pot of coffee, and answer the phones while I was in the restroom. I think he would get bored pretty quick, so I'd let him use the internet while I did some filing. I might even need him to run a Fedex overnight envelope to the drop box down the street. Exciting stuff, huh? (Now you know why I'm on the org all day!) I'm sure the other ladies in the admin. department would talk about him behind his back, probably noting his makeup and heels. But they would probably think he was cute anyway. biggrin If any of the tech staff was here, I know the guys would say "Hey" as they walked by, but they probably wouldn't bother trying to have a conversation with him. That's just how they are. confused

The best part would be walking over to University Village for lunch. We could go to some of the nice shops there, and get Jamba Juice on our way back. After work, he would have the joys at driving in Seattle's fabulous rush hour traffic! I'm sure that alone will keep him from ever wanting to come back. Still, I bet he'd be a great office assistant's assistant. cool

What time will he have to show up? I work in a veterinarian's office as a veterinary technician/receptionist, and I usually have to be work at work at 7:30am or 9:00am until 6 or 7 pm. Hope he likes early mornings, animals, and crazy animal collectors.

What will he need to wear? Scrubs of course. I like to think that I'm lucky enough to get to wear pajamas to work everyday, because that's what scrubs feel like. They're awesome! I can see Prince in some purple scrubs. I already have a pair, so we can match. biggrin

What tasks will you give him to do? I'll be nice and not make him pick up poop and pee or have to restrain "biters" or euthanize anything. He can assist in surgery, run bloodwork and other lab tests, or just answer the phone and make appointments. Can you see Prince answering the phone, "Yes, Mrs. Johnson, I have Mr. Fluffkins appointment for Friday morning at 10:30 logged for you. See you then." lol

What would your co-workers think of your new assistant? They would be freaked, but who wouldn't. It's Prince. Hopefully, they won't ask him to sing Purple Rain or Kiss. *crosses fingers*

This would be fun. Cute idea. smile

I am a Special Ed. teacher in a public high school. I teach a self-contained class that arrives around 8, so Prince would have to be there before the kids around 7:45.

I would probably have him write the day's schedule on the board, make copies, and when the kids come, have him walk around the room and make sure kids are on task and working appropriately.
During our English period, we're reading Othello right now, so I might assign him a part with the class- as narrator or something. reading
I might also ask him to sit with a kid who is having a difficult time following along.
(At the end of the day, if the kids are good, I might ask him to break out the acoustic guitar... guitar )

Prince would have to dress appropriately- he'd have to button up his shirt and wear underwear (sorry, Nurse! wink). (The makeup and heels are optional! High school kids are brutal... esp. the ones I teach!) biggrin

My coworkers may object- it's hard to say with this crowd. Some are ultra-conservative, while others are "too liberal". I think the kids and staff would like him, tho, because of his gentle spirit. nod

Your lies, they cut me.

I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

^ You're a special ed teacher! That's wonderful! That's a subject near and dear to my heart. I have always wanted to work with special needs kids, but I'm not qualified. ( I got a stupid music degree instead! mad ).

I would love to see Prince read with your kids, and play music for them. I think he'd make a good teacher these days, as long as he doesn't get too shy. biggrin

What time will he have to show up? 8:30am to 5:30 pm

What will he need to wear? Business casual with no holes in the butt

What tasks will you give him to do? He will be there to teach The Business of Music to anyone that wants to learn. This will include instruments, music reading, music business 101, starting your own label & of course music industry mistakes as an advanced class.

What would your co-workers think of your new assistant? I'd find out in a final Q & A session at the end of the day.

I am an academic advisor for a university and coach Bachelors program students. I arrive generally at 8 a.m. and he would be required to be business casual. Considering his wardrobe, he'd probably want to wear a suit circa the musicology tour without the jacket and hankerchief and earwrap.
I would definitely make him sit by me to get a feel for how I do my job and so I could cozy up with him, then I'd have him draw up degree completion plans and send them via email to the students.

My co-workers know of my Prince obsession, as I have pictures and posters all over my office (a.k.a cubicle), and many claim to be fans. I would have my photography-loving coworker set up a camera somewhere in the office where there is plenty of light so no flash was needed to snap candid shots of Prince on the job! lol
A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise.

I am one of those work at home people: technically we run a heating and air business:

so there is no "set" time to show up for work..as long as he is here to answer this phone when it starts ringing..normally 8 am EST, there are invoices to file, checkbooks to balance, sometimes deposits to be made. Phone calls to our distributors for equipment pricing. The hardest thing he would run across in this line of work is dealing with customers who already "think" that they know how to "fix" their units, or if he was on the physical end of this job, repairing work that someone else "rigged" up to get by on.

he could wear his jamies for all it mattered, cause unless he left the house, no-one but me would see him.

we usually stops taking calls for the day around 5, but still answer the phone and make schedules out for the next day if need be.

So yeah, you could call this "cake"..however it's a very stressful thing running your own business. But I think he would like it..just to do something different for the day.. nod nod nod nod nod nod nod

Good Lord, P would never spend a day doing my job. First of all he'd have to be sworn, which he'd never agree to. But for the sake of this thread...

*Work starts at 8am, court starts at 9. He'd have to wear a shirt and tie. No heels or makeup for men. eek He can get his coffee or tea and sip while he goes over the calendar for the day with the Judge, looking for cancellations and last minute motions. Then get his butt into the courtroom to set up before the Judge takes the bench by checking in all the litigants, attorneys, etc.

Then he'd have to work the day's cases with the Judge by placing people under oath, marking evidence, certifying orders such as judgements, restraining orders and divorce decrees, plus docketing, doing research and anything else needed while court is in session.

After court he'd have to finalize everything ordered during the day like making sure every order signed gets recorded. He'd also have to issue eviction writs, garnishments of paychecks and bank accounts, arrest warrants, etc. Then prepare the next day's calendar and have it ready for the Judge to review before he leaves for the day.

When there's no court in session I would train him to counsel domestic violence clients, issue marriage licenses, perform ceremonies, and reinstate driver licenses. I'd teach him how to handle people who are distraught, irate, scared and needy as well as some real slick lawyers. lol I'm also lucky to have a wonderful Judge because some of them are a nightmare.

My coworkers would love him. He'd seem really ordinary compared to some of the folks we see on a daily basis. lol

What a cool idea for a reality show Rani. I could teach Prince my job and he could teach me his. biggrin

I would make him talk to all the asshole execs that I have to talk to.

I would make balance the budget on all my projects.

I would make him talk to all the Indian developers in Bangalore to see if he understands a lick of what they're saying, and ask him to come up with project requirements and timelines based upon that, and sell this to the afore mentioned asshole execs.

Then I'd show him my paycheck, and ask him "You see this? This is what I have to do to scrounge up money to buy your music and attend your shows. How about signing an autograph once in a while, and showing up to your concerts on time, you asshole."

yeah, that's what I'd do.

This should be interesting...I work from home and I design pageant clothing for children and teens. (And no P won't get a restaining order on me! LOL!)

What time will he have to show up?
He should show up around 10 a.m. and if he wants to get on my good side, he should bring me a big cup of coffee from Starbucks!

What will he need to wear?
Preferably jeans--if he owns a pair--because I don't "sit" and do sketches. I lay on the floor and draw. So he'll need something he can lie down in. (But that I can't pull off him too easily) lol

What tasks will you give him to do?
He'll probably be running back and forth deliviering sketches to tailors, answering my phone and emails and getting me sketching supplies when I run out. Maybe massage my hands when they cramp up.

What would your co-workers think of your new assistant?
I work alone, but I will make him walk down the street to the store, just fr my peeps to see him!

What time will he have to show up? Well, I'm a student so he will have to show up at my college at 5:30pm. Thats when I have class.

What will he need to wear? Ohh he can wear anything he wants.

What tasks will you give him to do? Nothing. All he has to do is pay attention.

What would your co-workers think of your new assistant? Well my peers, if some know who he is, will be in shock.

I'm an engineer so today we'd have field reviews and inspections...

Starting at 9pm ( Construction is usually 7am unless its a night job)

Wearing a Class III retroreflective jumpsuit (highly visible contrast of Orange and fluorescent yellow-green with glowing white stripes.) eek
(underwear optional)

Tasks would cover 1) inspecting temporary traffic set-ups aka driving around listening to Prince music 2) checking the status of each work operation aka kickin it with the guys working on the concrete, steel, and asphalt 3) writing a report for the files aka bullshitting about how wonderful the projects going.
Prince would want me to tell the Truth hehehe

Co-workers thoughts? They would want to get him drunk and take him to Mexico. primo.
