What songs were co-written with his father? I'm sure this has come up many times before, but the search feature is down.
The only two I can think of are "Computer Blue" and "Scandalous".

none, the co-writes [if i read correctly] were his way of rewarding people etc, in his Dads case I guess it was little regular Pension fund with royalty cheques.

um... that's just wrong. Hey u changed 'hand' with 'fist'! At least u got my subtle joke. I thought it would go unoticed only to be met with replies "is this version availible on bootleg somewhere"?

Prince's father is credited on Computer Blue (the bit that uses the same melody as 'Father's Song' since Prince's father is supposed to have come up with that in real life as well as the movie; or did he?..) Around The World In A Day and The Ladder (Prince indicated that his father came up with the chord progression) Christopher Tracy's Parade and Under The Cherry Moon and Scandalous. Realistically, it is doubtful Prince's father contributed anything and Prince was just giving him a songwriting credit because he was somehow inspirational or more likely, as a gift (he would then get some royalty income).

I'm not convinced that Prince co-wrote anything with his father.
Certainly the co-writing credit on Computer Blue is bogus as Prince wrote that himself with input from Wendy and Lisa. The track 'Fathers Song' (the melody of which is re-used in Computer Blue) is registered as a solo Prince composition. And Computer Blue was originally registered just to Prince, Wendy and Lisa. Shortly before the album was released, it was re-registered to Prince, Wendy, Lisa and John L Nelson, despite there being NO musical change in the track (in fact quite the opposite, as by that point a large section of it had actually been edited out). The same goes for The Ladder (though I did hear that that one was 'inspired' by his father... apparently the chord progression is loosely based on one of his father's compositions). Around The World In A Day was actually mainly composed by Lisa's brother David Coleman. Prince then added to it after the basic tracks had been laid down and shaped it into a real 'song'. So again, no genuine fatherly input on that one. The co-credit on Scandalous is more plausible as by this time Prince had mostly given up giving misleading credits and using pseudonyms to disguise his involvement in other artists records . So it's possible that this one may in fact be genuine. [Edited 3/14/07 15:35pm]
