The three little guitar licks on the Scarlet Pussy 12".
The opening to La la la hee hee hee. The organ at the end of Glam Slam. The opening to Christopher Tracy's Parade. The "Come back, Nicki, come back" part of Darling Nicki. The closing of It. The guitar on the 12" of Hot Thing. The keyboard solo in Head. I agree about the monotone in What's My Name - but I'd add all the bass, scratching instrumental too. The scream deep down in the mix in Wasted Kisses - freaks me out. The opening to Freaks On This Side. "Somewhere in outerspace" before The Exodus Has Begun. The guitar solo in Exodus Has Begun. We could go on for days! This is a superb thread.

I just love his vocal harmonies:
*The final two words of "The Crooooosssss" *In Money Don't Matter Tonight when he sings "Roll his eyes" *The chorus of In This Bed Eye Scream "How we gonna put this back together..." *The backing vocals for Kiss *The girls who sing "La, La, La, La.." etc. in Le Grind *"Would U, could u, would u Lvoe Me 2 The 9's" *When he sings in around near the end of "And God Created Woman" and for instrumental stuff: *The guitar solos he does live during the Latin part of Everlasting Now *The chords behind "Life, it ain't too funky" during his birthday show in Detroit '86 *The horns doing their riff in It's Alright from the Rave DVD

It was a scorching solo and a great performance. Fun, free, fully confident. This moment IS Prince. Not that I don't like the others you mentioned, 'cause I surely do, but this one I dig to the extreme! I've been watching Sign 'O' the Times a lot lately, and I always linger (play it again 4-5 times) when I come to that absolutely spectacular part. It should be mandatory for anyone remotely interested in music to watch/listen to this! Agreed. To me, this one moment is Prince at the height of his power as an artist, entertainer, and musician. Whenever sings the chorus of "Gold"... I just melt. And the instrumental solo after the 2nd run of the chorus in "Little Red Corvette" is definitely a lot of fun because it reminds me of the video where he dances all over the stage. I'd have to listen to more of his music to add more to the list... had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

the "howling" on "Something in the water"
the bassline entry in "JOY in repetition" and the guitar solo on that song the drum roll at the start of "Dorothy Parker" and the funky 20 seconds at the end of that song The intro to "2 NIGS united for West Compton" The way New Position turns into I wonder you and the way I wonder you turns into "Under the cherry moon" and ... the way "Under the cherry moon" becomes Girls and Boys, and the BEST BIT, the way Girls and Boys becomes LIFE CAN BE SO NICE!!

The intro to Come Back on The Truth.
"Come here, let me light that", the intro to Big Fun on Exodus. Hundelasiliah! - is that spelt right? Probably not... you know what I mean. The outro to Vicky Waiting. The delivery of the lyrics on the studio Irresistable Bitch. The alarm clock on Starfish and Coffee. The smile Alexa de Paris makes me wear. The instrumentation on I Wonder U - heaven on a vinyl! The crescendo of An Honest Man from UTCM - Oh, how I wish he'd realeased that on CB and not that nonsense of a poem! Oh, this thread makes me all sorts of happy.

Dag, this IS a good thread
Let's see what hasn't been mentioned i agree with so many (i'm surprised someone, i think it was Chaos 96 peeped the too short guitar outro on Can't Stop This Feelin' I Got too) Here's a few others for me -the "gone Cynthia" shout at the end of Starfish & Coffee -when the bass kicks in and eventually takes over in the ext'd Mayday mix of -Little Red Corvette-the guitar breakdown in When U Were Mine -the intro and later the breakdown in Bambi-the vocals and lyrics to the Greatest Romance ever sold -"what was that? Aftershock" on Housequake -the dialogue on Bob George -the intentional "skip" affect on Black Sweat -the synth breakdown in Glam Slam (in the video too) -the guitar break and routine in the movie version of Let's Go Crazy -the horns and voyeurism in Pheromone -"i saw your friend first, that's who i danced with, all the time i was watching you..." - Electric Chair -his thoughts about what having a child would be like in Vicki Waiting...is my character enough to be, one that deserves a copy made...." i'll stop for now.

My faves (chronologically):
1980's 1) The start of the Dirty Mind video 2) The "Lord's Prayer" in Controversy 3) The "Disney-land" rant in Lady Cab Driver 4) The "hallway speech" in the Computer Blue 5) The orchestration at the start of "Condition of the Heart"/The speech in "Temptation". 6) The "Kids who lie do not go to heaven" (translated from French) beginning at the start of Do You Lie. 7) The entire vibe of the SOTT Motion picture/(superior to the album). 8) The guitar work in Dance On. 9) The guitar solo in Batdance The 1990's will be done later! Gotta go exercise "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

* The "arrival of the snare drum" on "Joy in Repetition" -- and the bass runs and dueling guitar solos, of course.
* Jangling of a bracelet or keys picked up by Prince's vocal mic in Kiss. Listen closely in the breaks, and you hear it. * The Stevie Wonderesque intro to "Condition of the Heart." Sounded like P was taking a Journey through the Secret Life of Plants... * The absolute cold funkedness of his production of Sheila E.'s first 3 albums. It's hard to put my finger on it. * The intro to "Violet Blue" by Jill Jones. * The octave distortion crunch rock that drenches the guitar and bass on "Temptation." And the "string squeak" you hear from them right before the "mine, little darling, mine is the opposite..." lyric. The chords of that song are straight burlesque, too. Um, so I hear. * Him cooly muttering, "Watch out now," on the intro to "America" * The solo from Crystal Ball's "The Ride." There's a portion of it where Prince plum loses his mind...

" Hate U" (Extended Remix) - part where he says "U gave a dog a place to bone and now Ur ass is all alone"
The part of the Staxowax version of TMBGITW where Mayte says, "Like he said you're a sexy mutha..." The end of "In This Bed Scream (part without the lyrics) The line in "Pretty Man" where he answers the phone and says, "Hellooo, Whooo iiis it?" The guitar solos in "My Love Is Forever". The line in "Uptown" where he says, "It took me by surprise; I didn't know what to do. I just looked her in her eyes and said, 'No, R U?" All that wonderful screaming at the end of "Do Me, Baby" The part of "Private Joy" where he says, "I strangled Valentino; you've been mine ever since. If anybody asks U; U belong to Prince. C'mon Honey Baby get up." The part of "Adore" where he says, "Until!!! I'll be there for ya baby!!" The extended version of "Pop Life" where he says, "What's the matter with Ur sex? Is 15 minutes Ur best?" The "Baby, oooh" at the beginning of "Incense and Candles" The part of "Man O War" (Remix) where he says, "Dontella lace U in dresses still, gets no love, but pay the bills...." and at the end, he does that little scream.
