Purple Rain *complete* soundrack

The anthology thread by thievesinthetemple got me thinking: How much would you love to have a COMPLETE soundtrack to Purple Rain, with FULL versions of ALL the songs??? What would the tracklist be? And not to endorse bootlegs in any way, but could a fan presumably compile a complete compilation with all that's circulating out there? I'd like to hear opinions on all this. especially from Boris, since he would know the proper track versions and song order to use. What do y'all think?? Here's my tracklist:

Let's Go Crazy (12-inch version)
Erotic City
Jungle Love
Take Me with U (longer version w/ more instrumentation at the end)
God (version with vocals and/or instumental version; or mix the two)
Modernaire (Dez Dickerson)
The Beautiful Ones (longer, w/ a few extra lines near the end)
Computer Blue (hallway version)
Darling Nikki (don't know if there r other versions???)
When Doves Cry (alternate versions? don't know)
17 Days
Sex Shooter
The Bird
I Would Die 4 U
Another Lonely Christmas
Baby I'm A Star
Purple Rain

The version I know is a double CD which consists of:

CD One

1. Intro / Let's Go Crazy
2. Jungle Love - The Time
3. segue - crazy at home
4. segue - Sex Shooter rehearsal
5. Take Me With U (with Lake dialogue)
6. segue - what's the password?
7. Modernaire / segue - still a group right / a first listen / Morris on the make
8. The Beautiful Ones / segue - the seduction
9. God / Love Theme From Purple Rain)
10. segue - get off it
11. segue - another listen / trouble at home
12. segue - rehearsal / Billy's talk
13. When Doves Cry
14. Father's Song / segue - never get married
15. Computer Blue
16. Darling Nikki
17. segue - Billy's scolding
18. Sex Shooter - Apollonia 6
19. segue - breaking point / the day after

CD Two

1. segue - the day after
2. The Bird - The Time
3. segue - Revolution who?
4. Purple Rain
5. I Would Die 4 U
6. Baby I'm A Star
7. Credit Medley
8. 17 Days
9. Erotic City (12" Version)
10. God
11. I Would Die 4 U (12" Version)
12. Another Lonely Christmas (12" Version)
13. Erotic City (Original Version)

Not a bad little set - but to be honest, I listen to the Purple Rain album more than this. Not too sure about the way the tracklisting diverts from 17 Days onwards on CD 2, but can see that the compiler wanted it to be more of a complete set than a movie soundtrack...

Well, I made my own 'Soundtrack to the motion picture Purple Rain" CD
many years ago. I only included main tracks that were in the movie, it's
really just an expanded version of the released CD to include the other
artist's tracks too. I did include the seven and a half minute versions of
Let's Go Crazy and Computer Blue instead of the album versions. The
tracklist looked like this...

1. Let's Go Crazy
2. Jungle Love
3. Take Me With U
4. Modernaire
5. The Beautiful Ones
6. When Doves Cry
7. Computer Blue
8. Darling Nikki
9. Sex Shooter
10. The Bird
11. Purple Rain
12. I Would Die 4 U
13. Baby I'm A Star

Boris,

That is an AWESOME tracklist! The more I think about it, the B-sides really don't need to be on there, since they weren't technically in the movie. Then again, the B-sides are actually really good songs that fit in with the others in terms of style and mood, so it wouldn't hurt at all to include them.

My ideal tracklist eould be somewhere in between yours and GoldTimer's, with your basic track order interwoven with several segues, like The Seduction and Father's Song.

Would Warner Bros. ever be willing to release something like this? If they did, I'd be all over it! What an awesome soundtrack!!!

Not bad, about the only thing I would add is the God instrumental. But other than that, it's solid.
Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see
I can be in a park, or flying in the…in the deep sea
I wish u’d hold my hand; then everything could b
There’s nothing strange, we’re not deranged
We only want everyday 2 b a Cosmic Day

I did consider adding that track, but it spoils the flow of the album
having such a long instrumental halfway through (the album is almost
70 mins long without it)

It does kinda work if you edit it down to about 2:35 and use it almost like
a segue between The Beautiful Ones and When Doves Cry. I did consider
doing the same thing with Father's Song (lifted from the movie), but all
the background noise on the track is a bit distracting.

What about Possessed?

I know only the instrumental is circulating of the version used in the movie, but it is instrumental in the movie any way, and it is ciurculating in good quality.

I did the same as Boris, but I put God and Possessed on there, but I agree God ruins the flow/energy.

The only song missing is Electric Intercourse. Add that to the list as a bonus time and I'll buy it.....the official release that is. cool

I did try it with Possessed (Instrumental), God (Instrumental) & Father's Song
but I didn't think it quite worked. The sound quality on Possessed and Father's
Song, while very good, were still noticably lower than the rest of the album.
Also, the 3 instrumentals only worked in the context of the album if they were
dramatically edited down in length to just a couple of minutes, so they're really
little more than segues. That way they don't upset the flow of the album too
much. The album then looked like this...

1. Let's Go Crazy (Extended Version)
2. Jungle Love
3. Take Me With U
4. Modernaire
5. Possessed (Instrumental Edit)
6. The Beautiful Ones
7. God (Instrumental Edit)
8. When Doves Cry
9. Father's Song
10. Computer Blue (7:30 Extended Version)
11. Darling Nikki
12. Sex Shooter (Edit of Extended Version)
13. The Bird (with edited intro and outro)
14. Purple Rain
15. I Would Die 4 U
16. Baby I'm A Star
