I have two that I love beyond all reason.
Purple Rain Gold I'll go into Gold a little more when I'm sure my used copy of "The Gold Experience" that I recently purchased is in flawless condition. But Purple Rain is in a class by itself. I saw him do it in the movie and went to pieces... it's so beautiful and full of emotion and incredible for so many other reasons. Whenever I heard it, I'm moved by it, regardless of when/where/how it was played, acoustic/piano/electric guitar, it doesn't matter. "she killed John Lennon.. shot him down cold". man, it's a frightening vocal. some really emotive guitar playing too. I think by now, I must've seen a thread about just about every track imaginable. One thing about Prince, his stuff is so varied, people gravitate towards different things, and everything is loved by someone.
But, I'll pitch in 'We Get's Up', which gets a lot of flack as one of low-points on Emancipation, but I've always loved, to me, it reminded me of something from the Lovesexy-era. Maybe I just love the tackiness.  | |
