Hi everybody!

I recently made a Prince Anthology cd to introduce 'virgins' to the scope of Prince's talent, with very strict parameters. I like it, but now I'm dying to know what others would come up with, when faced with the same parameters. Care to take the challenge?

Here are the restrictions

1. One disc
2. Chronological order
3. One song from each album (Black Album and Hits/B-Sides optional), until the time runs out.
4. The disc must show off the many facets of Prince's voice, musicianship, and mastery of styles (i.e., choose your songs to reflect 'disco Prince', 'arena rock Prince', 'slow groove Prince', 'art rock Prince', and everything in between).
5. The disc should show Prince in all of his moods (i.e. 'funny Prince', 'brooding Prince', 'sad Prince', 'horny Prince', and everything in between
6. The album should have a good flow, like a story your listener will want to hear again and again!

Played around with it in Nero SoundTrax (a lovely little tool that I constantly use) so that it flowed really well and then spent ages cutting up the resultant large WAV file into the relevant tracks before burning to CD.

I'm really pleased with the end result. I know it won't be to everyone's taste (which compilation ever is!!) but I love it!

That is a great list - now I'm jonesing to hear Controversy and Automatic side-by-side! I had Automatic on mine too, initiallly, until I realized that I didn't have an 'arms-waving-in-the-air-arena-rock' song on the set, so Free took its place.

I forgot to mention... I didn't make mine for total Prince 'virgins', actually. More for people who've heard most of the hits, can maybe sing along to about half of Raspberry Beret, but who aren't yet aware of the extent of the man's genius. Thus, my compilation is aimed at people who are ready to take a deeper, but not totally obscure, look into Prince's work (and Theo, it looks like yours is, too! )

I've shied away from doing this with Prince's later work, as I don't have Exodus or NPS (and what about Chocolate Invasion & Gold Nigga - are those albums, or EPs?). Hmm... now I wanna try a disc 2!
