Fair enough. There's a sped-up bit towards the end that could easily be debated either way whether it's Camille or just Prince fiddling with the song.

Um...and the difference is? lol

Oh, there's a difference alright.

1. 'Camille' is male, not female.
2. Sped up vocals do not equal 'Camille'.
3. Camille only existed for a specific period of time.

I was just about to ask is Camille suppose to be female... I always thought the alter ego was male

I'd say that the spirit of Camille lives on in the "3121" track.

I've heard different versions of what gender Camille was meant to be. The version I've heard most often is that Camille is a woman. Next is that Camille's a man. Much, much more rarely I've heard that Camille is either a hermaphrodite or simply purposely gender neutral.

Well, Prince has always refered to Camille as male, and all the 'Camille' songs
are sung from a male perspective. The only Camille song where the gender is
unclear is Shockadelica, and even then it can still be interpreted either way.

Prince even specified Camille's gender in the Lovesexy tour program with the
narrative which starts; -

Time upon a once
there was a boy named Camille,
Now this boy named Camille
didn't know how 2 feel
Sometimes he was lonely,
sometimes he was sad
but most times
he just took 4 granted
all the nice things
that he had.

I'm sure a reference to Camille shows up on The Rainbow Children.

I don't think Camille will come out again since that was the "Pre-Jehovah" Prince, but at the Superbowl I see some of his old ways slipping back in so Maybe! biggrin
