Wife is expecting our first child!!!!

My wife is expecting our first child!

I am so very excited by it, but...

The due date is OCTOBER THE 2ND!!!

I live an hour from London and have been looking forward to Princes return to these shores for a long long time!

I am a member of the NPGMC and need to go to the soundcheck and aftershow etc etc

But my conscience is telling me I can't go...

What do you guys think?

Stay with your wife. A child. The most precious thing there is.

...besides, there are more London dates. What about those?

Congratulations Gavin!

That's really tough...but I think your wife and child are more important. Maybe if the gigs in late October in Paris
go ahead you could treat yourself to a short trip.

This moment will never come back to you, but Prince probably will ;o)

*Peace*

Congratulations! hmm Tricky one that, either get her to cross her legs until the show is over, or take her with you and Prince can sing to her while she gives birth, the ONA songs would be much better than listening to water and dolphins any day! wink

Whatever you decide - this is your BIG day, and Prince will always play some other time...

Good Luck!

Hi,

We've got the same dilemma... we're expecting our first child in January (4th!), so we're not sure if we're going to see Prince...

Congratulations.

Increase the amount of sex you are having with her. There is a natural substance in male sperm that acts the same as the substance which is used to induce birth when mothers go beyond term. I know this because my wife worked for a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist a few months up until she gave birth.

Or perhaps that was just a ruse on her part?

My guess is you need to be at the birth. You only (very much) want to be at the soundcheck, concert and afterparty. Prince is good, but not that good. You can afford to miss Prince, but you can't afford to be absent from the birth - at least by choice.

Nevertheless, if you can afford it, why not wait to see if something like Paris is announced for the end of October, and try to get a cheap flight over there when you know everyone is safe and well, and you've attended something that money can never buy.

a due date does not mean that's when she'll have the baby...could be a week early, could be a week late...I'd say ask her if she feels up to going...if not...ask her how she feels about you still going? She must know how much you want to go to the concert too...right? I'd say just discuss it with her, and do what ever she says...LOL smile

Congradulations buddy.

I didn't want to mention this yet but my wife and I just had our first two weeks ago and let me tell you.

It's pure cloud 9!

You really cannot describe the feeling you get looking into the eyes of a life that came from pure love.

It is so magical!

We went through quite the pregentcy so e-mail me when it gets bad (I hear it always does no matter what) I'll be your online beer buddy.

Even though the celebration was two months before our due date, I did not go because you really can't count on a due date.

You have to be there.

And we don't have to tell you that. There is no performance that Prince has done nor will do that will come close to the performance your wife and child will.

And that's a fact!

Congrats and at least you're being honest.

The due date is October 2nd...does that mean that she's having a C-Section performed on that day, or is the labor being induced.

Here's what I'm getting at, there's no guaruntee that the baby is gonna be born on that exact day. Doctors always give a ball park figure based on the infants position in the womb.

Hey look out, it might come b4 then omg

But still, being there for her is more important. Prince would think you're nuts, if he knew you missed your child's birth for his concerts. He'd read a Bible passage to you or something.

It could be Oct. 2nd, or 3rd or 4th. No one knows but God...

Hey, first of all, congrats!

I had the same dillema with the Xenophobia celebration. I bought the tickets anyway, figuring that I could sell them if I needed to. Priorities and all...

Well, my wife and I were able to go and we also now have a baby girl. She's the most beautiful thing that I have ever laid eyes on.

Buy tickets, man. No huge loss if you can't go, but you still might be able to.

By the way, the reason that most of my posts are late at night is because I am up feeding her or changing her diapers or both...constantly. But it's worth every eye bag.

Oh, and the other night I was feeding her and reading the .Org, I had no shirt on and she threw up curdled milk into my armpit hairs.

Best wishes!

Congradulations.
Since this is ur wife's 1st child, she may not give birth til 18 hours after her water breaks.
Id suggust u take Ur Beloved Wife & invite her Doctor or Midwife with u to the concert. Does'nt hurt to ask.
Take a Bucket & towels. biggrin
Keep ur cell handy & pray her water does'nt break during soundcheck.
I made the choice of staying in town when Prince was 4 hours away. Gave birth 4 days b4 the show & 1 month early. smile
U cant miss ur babies birth.
U can always see Prince another time, but ur baby will only b born once.

Buy the ticket & hope for the best.

Yeah, you'll be seeing that kid for the next 20 or so years, so what's one night. Besides it'll be too young to remember you weren't there, unless this site and this thread will be saved for a couple of years, then you might be ijn trouble smile
