Did Rick James' "Mary Jane" have an influence in Prince's production? The song reminds me alot of the If I was your girlfriend...
Discuss fellow orgers!

Discuss fellow orgers! no doubt about it, i always thought the music was similar to Ricks's in this song.both great funkateers, Rick's sound was more street, urbane and hard.

They were rivelries back in the day...They were always in competition...As a matter of fact I think it was Appleonia who what first with Rick James and then Prince took her away...If memory serves me right...Huh!?! Um... let me warm up my vocals

No, vanity. Appelonia didn't really have much a real relationship to Prince.

Yeah, the deluxe is incredible, smoking musicians on live performance, the man also had great rapport with the audience, fantastic, commanding. Also interesting how the tunes were all uptempo.

Please don't be mad at me because I mean no harm. If u r a sensitive person I apologize in advance. Ur post is laughable on so many differnt levels. Prince and Rick James were "rivelries" ( I take it u meant rivals). The spelling of Apollonia. Prince stole Apollonia from Rick James. Don't get mad at me I'm just poking a lil fun. Street Songs is one of Rick's finest works. The Deluxe Edition of the album has an excellent concert on disc 2. All I have 2 say is "Sh!t, got damn...get off ur feet and jam!" **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
