Was Prince's first LP promoted in 1978 ??? Is it me or For you get no promotion compared to Prince.
Is there any TV apparence of Prince in 1978 ??? For years I've thought that Prince album was his first album.

Same here. I had never heard of Prince until the "Prince" album. I never heard "Soft and Wet" until the "Controversy" era. At that time, I asked everyone I knew if they had ever heard it and none of them had. Andy is a four letter word.

I'm surprised that there aren't more responses to this thread. I've always been curious if "For You" was promoted or got airplay because the first song that I and everyone I know remembers is "I Wanna Be Your Lover". Andy is a four letter word.

this is an excellent question! The first time I heard prince was back in 1979 on the Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack. He sang I wanna be your lover. He came out in a two piece bikini with his back facing the camera, and everybody thought he was a girl, until he turned around with a huge mustache on his face. that shit was funny. I wish somebody could find this video and post it on here.
I also never heard soft n wet until the controversy days.
