Prince in Africa

'Mountains' name checked Africa, 'Family Name' is about slaves. Does anyone know if Prince has ever been to, or played in Africa?

I doubt it!! it could be remotely possible he visited but playing i dont think so!!
most of the current rappers go to south africa to play i dont think he ever went to south africa I used to hear this south african radio station althought i never lived in south africa ( lived 2 countries above) They used to have specials covering all the artist career and they had one on prince they would have mentioned if ever did play in SA

I dont think he has ever been there!! Other destination of choice is kenya for the safaris

Yes, he has been to Africa. It's where Te Amo Corazon video was shot.
Marrakesh, in Morroco. Dont believe he has played there, however, or anywhere else in Africa, doubt he's got much reason to.

I have a friend who is from Africa and he told me that he wishes that Prince would play there. He said that his friends back home would love to have a concert...

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

morroco is physically africa but in the general context ppl when they refer to africa they mean sub-sharan africa which excludes most of the arab countries

I'm sure I vaguely heard of him visiting Egypt, hence the inspiration for the Symbol album, but again that's not sub-saharan.

His trips to Egypt are pretty wellknown, especially during the Symbol album days and later, after Emancipation came out, he mentioned a trip to the pyramids in a Jeep and he said he had a tinging sound in his ears when he got closer to the pyramids.
The interview was in a small magazine that came with the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Ahhh, but this was not 'sub sharan' africa lol
he's only been to the 'not African' parts of Africa.

now if the opposite had been said...which isn't true...he/she would have been called out as well...isn't that odd...

The reason is pretty obvious. Think about how much Prince charges for a concert and now check out the average salary in Nigeria or Kenya for example.

I work with scientist who make trips to Africa every once in a while for field work (to Angola and the Congo, mostly). It takes forever for them to get clearance to go, and safety is always an issue. I know that not all parts of Africa are as dangerous, but maybe that one of the reasons there's never been an African tour.

I haven't heard of Prince ever going to Africa but, since it's all the rage in Hollywood now perhaps he will.

Well angola and congo( u mean the country formally known as zaire) have had civil wars for better part of the last 25yrs!! and both were funded by the US thats why the US has gained a bad reputation plus they also had supposed mandela to remain in jail!!
angola is way better now and it has oil too so but the civil war is over now
congo is still in limbo but they had elections but its fractured

so if u keep outta countries where there is civil war u will be fine unless u go to johannesburg south africa which is pretty dangerous place
