"Didn't Cha Know" @ ONA - European shows

"Didn't Cha Know" is a great song, I really like it. BUT maybe it's not going over well b/c Rhonda sings it in a way that's hard to understand. She kinda mumbles through it, where Badu articulates each word & it works well. Maybe that's just a style thing, but if I didn't already know the words... confused

Maybe if P helped her out w/ her mic skills, the crowd would stay w/ it (reports always list that song as a lull in the evening). Plus, if you're not a Badu fan or you don't have the album, you're gonna be lost anyway - why contribute to that w/ half-sung lyrics? Nobody wants a lull, right?

I love that I'm talking as if someone's actually listening... neutral
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Much as I love Erykah Badu, she isn't really that well known over here in the UK. Most of the audience will probably think Rhonda is singing one of her own songs if they decide to do it over here.

I did get the impression that Prince was gonna make quite a few changes to the setlist for the European leg of the tour, so maybe they'll drop the whole 'covers' bit anyway.

The whole 'Family Name' bit maybe should also be dropped as it doesn't really apply over here. Britain was involved in the slave trade (roughly from 1600-1800), but the British never owned slaves themselves. Or maybe Prince could change that bit to highlight Britain's part in the slave trade.

Yes, the part Britain played in the slave trade was predominantly one of 'trade' rather than ownership - http://www.english.nwu.ed...c/slavery/

But some British people did own slaves - some in Britain, and some based in British Colonies

British slave-owner: William Lynch - http://www.ummah.org.uk/a...lynch.html

British slave-owner: Charles Harvey - http://www.archives.org.u...ank4a.html

English slave-owner, John Baker - http://www.archives.org.u...k4act.html

Un-named slavery experience in London of Ignatius Sancho - http://www.brycchancarey....o/life.htm

Uphoria

Rhonda's version would have fit very nicely on Intellipop.
