The official line from the Purple Kingdom when they split was that Vanity was the love of Prince's life and that she broke it off, but now I read awhile back that Prince was with Jill Jones and Susannah when he was with V. So, what is the deal? Did anyone ever find out why V left and has Prince ever spoken of her since then?

for the first time I notice that Prince is wearing jeans on that RS cover. Am I correct? I've only seen him wearing those on very early pics (pre 80)...

About Vanity, could her use of harddrugs have played a role? I always wondered if Prince himself took them in that period. Enough people around him were (Big Chick, Morris, Vanity,....). The music from that period (controvery, 1999 albums) sure does have a very dopy edge imo.

Oh yes! The article,by Debby Miller,was the first real in-depth article on Prince by a major rock magazine.In those days,Prince wasn't doing too many interviews and he didn't actually talk to RS...they got much of their quotes from his associates and proteges.The biggest surprise was that Prince would soon be making a movie.This was the first time I had heard about it.Do a Google search,maybe the article is printed on some fansite.
