All the "hipster" and "emo" kids loved it back then (1994-5). And they hated Prince and his version, thought his (and him) was cheesy. No matter how much I said listen to the real song "Pheremone", they couldn't care less about it. This was the same crowd that then loved Beck and his more comedic tunes. I had one girl write a fan note all the way from Washington (I'm was in Austin, Texas), I had one guy write from Los Angeles to see if "the band" was signed, and I had one guy in Austin shout the whole thing back to me in the same vocal style... well i don't care what anybody else says i think it's absolutely fantastic thanks! There is a youtube vid somewhere I saw of him doing Purple Rain and I think When Doves Cry is on his CD. One Clay Aiken fan said he did it better than P. Go figure "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish." | |
