He's human like the rest of us.
X'cept, sometimes, he gets so full of himself, he has to bust a nut twice. I figure, that's why nowadays, he's "dates" twins.

In my opinion Prince is often 'overcompensating' in public to hide his shyness.
The good thing of that is: he isnt very good in it, so its easy to prick trough. Not many have mentioned that here, but Princes face tells all. I mean: look at his eyes, his body language, and most of the time you see a person not at ease with his surroundings and / or with his own feelings. Especially when he is not performing on the stage, but being interviewed for example, his face tells all.

That's one of those Prince-isms that are just so cool. Maybe we should start a thread of Prince-isms... had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Wow, I need to move out there from U.K as all U guys seem 2 know Prince personally.I've been a fan for 23 years but I've never met him, spoken privately with him or any of his friends or family.Given that I only know Prince thru his music and the never ending merry go round of sour puss's bad mouthing him when he doesn't want to play ball with them anymore, i'd have to answer the question with a resounding... I've no idea and nor have most of you.

I agree with you, sometimes Prince does get a little arrogant. Now I know we have poeple that will disagree with this , but to prove my point just look at all the people that just left cuz they got tired of his shit. Levi, Miko, Shelia,Morris,Jesse,Andre,BrownMark,Roise, Eric and Alan Leeds,Jill, and the list goes on. Cuz of his arrogance, Prince has lost a lot of talented people Tell me.... Did these people u mention above leave Prince or did Prince leave them?

Well if you don't know him personally,i'm guessing ur talking about his body language where...in videos, concert, awards shows, interviews?? At those times he is at work. I think he is a showman, I think that can be confused with arrogance. The thing with this question is, the mere fact that there are so many different takes on him as a personality, either thru stories read or body language assumed, that it only goes to prove it's not down to him, his personality or anything else...it's down to your individual intepretations of what you see or read or hear. I guess I just can't pass judgement on Prince because I don't know him , I haven't experienced him, and any tales I hear or read etc come from one side only, and the only side I like to go off is my own. He may well be the biggest ass on earth, who knows...not me " A mind changed against its will, is of the same opinion still"

The arrogance is what I love most about him because I can totally understand it. I'm exactly the same way except a little different. I try to be nice to people until they give me a reason to be arrogant. Once I have a reason, God help you. Andy is a four letter word.

There's nothing wrong with Prince's arrogance, It keeps the bullshiters out of his face and as for the people who leave him because of it, they worked for him he didn't need them they have all been replaced and where are they now? Don't change Prince!

He created all the songs I love! Some of the people that i mentioned had a helping hand in creating some those songs.
I'm not doubting that but that's the past. Do you still associate with everyone from your past? Hell you ask some people, and they will tell you that Prince's music has not been the same since Wendy and Lisa left.
And if you ask some other people, they will you that Wendy and Lisa were no help to Prince's music. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. Now you may feel that his arrogence has not cost him any thing. while other's feel that his arrogence has cost him by not having any creative people around him
Yet, he's still surviving and rather well I might add, without them!

Well said. I know Prince can be like that sometimes, but that's part of his charm. When I started as a fan, that was the only thing I knew about him beside his music... but I've learned that he has more to his personality than arrogance and like him for it. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. Sometimes, I think he uses his arrogance to be funny. Like, when he does his little pimp walk after a performance, or scares interviewers by staring at them instead of answering their rediculous questions. Also, he can get very shy and uncomfortable during interviews, which affects his behavior, and can make him seem more arrogant than he is.
I don't know. I think that he has a right to be proud of his talents and accomplishments, but deep down, it's important to stay humble. My favorite Prince moments are when he is being gracious and sweet. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

I think so too.. I think a lot of his antics are private jokes that other people don't get and interviewers get pissed because they were made a fool of, or at least felt like they were. Remember the interview with the woman on CNN & she kept pressing for him to perform so he grabbed the guitar & told her to sing? She was so shook I thought she was gonna pass out.. then he laughed & stopped because he said she had tears in her eyes. I don't think he was trying to make her cry I think he wanted her to come out of her shell or to see how it feels from his POV.

I'm not sure I liked him walking among us without even smiling, waving, saying Hi or any kind of contact with people who loves him the most. Just my two cents.

I thought about this little more, and came to a better conclusion (for myself). A little arrogance does not bother me, because it is possible to be cocky, and still be respectful to others. What does bother me is when someone shows a complete lack of respect for other people. There is no reason for that. So, when Prince is tooting his own horn, or making an interviewer realize that their question was stupid, I laugh and say, "Right on, P!". However, when he acts in a disrespectful manner to colleagues and fans, I cannot support that.
My 2 cents... [Edited 3/9/07 8:59am] Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

I think he's trully arrogant in real life and fakes humility on tv.
I just hate the way he acted on stage with James Brown, Back then he was still nothing, and he made a fool of himself. I think he doesn't need to act like this to show how talented he is.

My mom just found out that I'm, as she calls it, "a Prince freak"... and she said two things about him.
1) He's an acquired taste 2) "He's so vain" Addressing 1), yes, I understand that. A couple of my fav. songs of his took an extra listen before they grew on me (Doves is a perfect example of this). I think, though, that I had the right amount of influence to give him a try. (Thanx dad, you rock for making me sit through the last 1/2 hour of Purple Rain 1-2 years ago). I took him in little by little and since I took off a "freak" as my mom calls it, I'm loving the feeling of it. 2) addresses this topic. I looked up the word "vain" and it means "conceited, narassitic and arrogant"... in some cases, yes, that is true... then the word "big-headed" came about. That's where I draw the line... cuz as hard as it is to believe for non-fans, Prince is very grounded, especially after his "evolution" during his years. I have my own view of Prince that comes from watching "Purple Rain" and various performances and interviews... and I have my own definition/feeling for who he is... big-headed is not one of them. Even if I had any doubt, his humbleness at the NAACP awards would have refuted that. I only believe what I see/hear he does from a personal POV, not rumors or anything... had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
