He got inducted into the "Rock N Roll Hall of Fame" on his first nomination. Some artist are nominated muliple times and don't get in (kinda like Susan Lucci). I wouldn't be mad if Prince got his star, but he's already got some of the biggest honors in the business. They should just give him a star at this point....he's earned it. Prince Rogers Nelson

CJBabyDaddy said: Steven Spielberg's impact on Hollywood has been massive. Clint Eastwood's impact on Hollywood has been massive. Sidney Poitier's impact on Hollywood has been massive. Not one of them has had any impact on the music business. Prince has had a massive impact on the music business -- which ain't Hollywood. In the overall scheme of things, his impact on Hollywood has been miniscule. If the stars on the sidewalk represent impact on Hollywood, then you'll need to refresh my memory about the massive impact that such honorees as Donald Trump and Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White have had. Spielberg and Poitier both have stars on the WOF. FYI, there are 5 categories of WOF stars given: Television, Radio, Live Theatre/performance, Motion Pictures, and Recording. See post #13 for an example of some in the recording category who have stars. Also from the WOF website: History The Walk of Fame is a chronological history of the Hollywood-based entertainment industry and honors those who have made significant contributions in the categories of radio, television, motion pictures, recording and live performance. Criteria for Star on the Walk of Fame 1. Professional achievement 2. Longevity of five years in the field of entertainment 3. Contributions to the community DT and VW did get stars in the TV category, (I don't see R. Seacrest on the list). Since that was just last year, I'd say that's a reflection of current tastes/pop culture, rise of reality TV whatever. Who cares really? I do think the recording category has a bit more respectable list -for the most part anyway. I already concurred in an earlier post that Prince is more famous than many of the stars already out there. [Edited 3/6/07 13:36pm] Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

We should start a fan-based effort- FOR REAL- on getting Prince his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Anyone can nominate a celebrity as long the celeb agrees. Apparently, it costs $25,000. If we started some kind of online petition- and everybody gave a dollar, that could be covered in no time. The hard part is getting the agreement from Prince or "his representatives" to submit along with the application. But I would think there has to be someone here, who knows someone, who knows someone, who's third cousin maybe could actually talk to someone in his camp about this. I see no reason why he wouldn't agree if presented with an organized campaign- he is a Star for God's Sake, and a much bigger one than some of the stars out there already. See here for info...http://www.hollywoodchamber.net/icons/faq.asp Think how cool it would be if the Org was directly responsible for making this finally happen? why?? a star????

Prince is a star...He's the sun if we are to compare, but I digress. This simply would be a wonderful gesture on our part and if it happens I will definitely be a part of it. For the record Prince turned down the star when Warner Bros sponsored it, but they are not us....

As I posted in an earlier thread,
when I was little, I made it all the way to the final bucket when I appeared on the Bozo Circus show. Now, I have a star on the WOF. I'm between Tallulah Bankhead & Big Bird.

I am still trying to figure out how owning a restaurant and a club equates to being worshipped. Umm...the club isn't named "Prince" is it? The restaurant isn't named "Prince" is it? Seems the restaurant is more of a business venture and the club is simply the locale for where does his daily job (just as mine is an office building), rather than places opened so he can be "worshipped"

I think if Prince was asked respectfully by sincere admirers supporters and real music lovers..he might consider it. I for one just think of it as a gift not an award. I hope we can at least find out his response...At this point there's no harm in asking..

I didn't say it was, I said it could be seen that way. Do you not agree that a great deal of people equate the symbol with him? The symbol is plastered all over the place in Vegas. Massive one on the side of the Rio, first thing you see when you enter the restaurant, etc. And how about the Superbowl stage? A peeve of plenty of people around here is how "non-fans" still ask, "what's his name?" or make other lame symbol jokes to this very day. just saying... anyway, back to topic at hand, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that this will never happen, there isn't enough fan support as others have received. That's cool. As I said earlier, I thought it was a nice idea, but not that big of a deal either way. I am glad someone at least made an effort and started an online petition. Just a comment for those who crap on the fact that one has to pay for a star:
1) the money goes towards maintanance of the star and 2) its a revenue generating venture for the city of Hollywood...similiar to how celebrities and businesses purchase clean up projects on freeways... personally i dont see whats wrong with one having to pay for it...its not like the money is going to an entity for profit. Space for sale...

Are you kidding? With all the winos pissing and the tourists constantly spilling their Slurpees on all of the stars on the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard, star maintenance is a 24/7 operation.
