Thoughts on Gold Nigga

I'm thinking about buying the Gold Nigga CD and I wanted some feedback from orgers who've listened to this album, such as best/worst songs, etc. Thanks. biggrin

Careful which version of the disc you buy -- the original pressing has a track called "Deuce and a Quarter" that was removed from subsequent pressings due to (I believe) a sample that they didn't have the rights to use.

wasn't it "Guess Who's Knockin?" that was removed?

Yes it was because it stole the lyrics from a Paul McCartney song so he would have been entitled to a song-writing credit and royalties!
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

That's right, some Paul McCartney sample.

The album is basically one of the old incarnations of the NPG, with Tony M singing lead vocals. Prince only appears in a co-vocals way on 2 tracks. The album is a Prince-take on gangsta-rap and there are a few segues about getting paid.

Great CD, the instrumentals are brilliant, Deuce & A 1/4 is great, Black MF too. Everyone likes Johnny of course. smile

Call The Law, 2Gether, it's really only the title track/segues I'm not too fond of.

Could anyone who has the original cd please post here the credits of each track (writers, producers, musicians..)? I'd like to know what exactly is Prince's involvement in this album. Thank you.

You guys are right -- it's "Guess Who's Knockin'" that got removed from subsequent pressings of the disc.

The album only credits the whole album - 'All songs produced, arranged and performed by The New Power Generation', listing Tony Mosley, Levi Seacer Jr., Micheal Bland, Sonny Thompson, Kirk Johnson, Damon Dickson, Tommmy Barbarella, and Morris Hayes. The NPG Hornz aren't mentioned although they appear on nearly all of the tracks. Despite the ambiguous credits, Prince was heavily involved in the album, coming up with the basic ideas for most, if not all, of the songs.

'Call The Law' was previously released as a Prince song on the b-side of Money Don't Matter 2 night'.

Just one thing - don't pay any more for it than you would any other CD. It's nowhere near worth the price that is often demanded for it.

They're very real:

I'm not sure that one is worth the $3.99 they're asking on amazon.com, but in case you want to check it out:
