'Condition of the Heart'..anyone else dig it?

i used to dislike this track, hated the vocal [sounds so out of tune!], now i just love it, it really is a unique track and back in '85 there weren't many others like it around. How 'bout you?.

I like it alot cool

Love the live version in Lovesexy piano medley. Gorgeous

You can hear the crowd audibly gasp when he starts playing it.

That is the best single of the album. Still amazing and not so dated listening to.

Love the song, love the lyrics

Every day is a yellow day
Im blinded by the daisies in your yard

There was a woman from the ghetto
Who made funny faces just like Clara Bow,
how was I 2 know
That she would wear the same
cologne as u
and giggle the same Giggle that u do?
Whenever I would act a fool, the fool with a condition of the heart

Besides being a beautiful song, it's also perhaps the best example of Prince's inventive use of synthesizers!

Recorded on my 10th birthday... mushy

So a special tune for me, as weird as that sounds.

It was the song that made me a Prince fan.

One man came up with every single noise you hear on that song? Who else could do that?

And it's the most picturesque Prince song ever.

This was the song that made me think Prince was a true artist in 1985. Before that I thought he was a great top 40 star. Of course, previously I didn't know that he played all the instruments and even wrote "Jungle Love"...

It took me a while be4 I really liked it,those days I used 2
skip a lot of ballads,I wanted the funky-rock stuff biggrin It was the
long intro that made me skip easely, but I really loved
the song after a while.Condition of the heart isn't mentioned
that often but it's a classic Prince song!

I remember this song, the first time I heard it. I couldn't believe anyone could capture emotion like that in music. It is so powerfully atmospheric--one can go deep and far away with that track. He was so young, too!! Powerful medicine it is, still to this very day.

1 of my all time favorite P ballads!
Especially the way it builds up to a wall of voices!
Also love the "real Prince from Arabia" line----classic Prince snicker!

I read an article with Brett Anderson (Suede) once and he was asked to choose ten of his favourite tracks, or something like that. I know he's a massive Prince fan and this was the track he chose. nod

Basically, he said this was the perfect showcase for Prince's singing and commented on how 'emotional/fragile' it is.
