Prince Clothing line

Would you buy clothes made by Prince's designers say from the Parade 1986 to the Graffiti Bridge era 1990. I definelty would. He had some of the hottest suit made, especially the black pasiley print that he threw into the crowd when he got off the plane in Sheriden WY. Lovesexy gear was funky too with the coming of the high-waist pants.

what do you think?

Back in 1990, Prince actually was going to put out a clothing line to coincide with the release of Graffiti Bridge. It was going to be just like the clothes he wore in the film (b&w, leather jackets, etc.). The news was distributed to newspapers but like a lot of other P projects, it never saw the light of day.

YES! I would!

I would the clothing from the Sign O The Times era!

The baggy high waisted pants with built in suspenders (one piece), heck even Eric Leeds and Sheena Easton wore them and they looked awesome!

They were made in in monochromatic colors, dark blue, peach, black...very cool. Could be mixed and matched. I think that was the first time in men's fashion (that I saw) were the ties colors matched the shirts color, then matched the pants, AND shoes!!!

They came with a short jacket also matching. Nice details in the details was the sharp (not so over exagerated 80's) shoulder pads and colors, they were very unique and clean. The collars of the jackets were high, didn't have lapels, and had small buttons for closing them up all the way. Sharp.

Prince did wear one cool high waisted suspender built in but with large holes on either side on the hip. You can see the pants in the U Got The Look video, intro section.

I think the fashion style took a little from the past, like Jazz influences but with a new Funk twist. Very cool and STILL would be hip these days!

Another favorite is the Lovesexy era clothing. The high waisted pants were ow without suspenders unless as an accessory. The overcoats, the writing on the side of the shirts! The cool lovesexy coat!

That stuff was great!

And the stuff he's wearing now. The suits are kind of in the same style, but not so daring. I don't like those slightly flared pants, I mean the material is nice but the bellbottomy bottoms are kind of nasty. I got a good look at an aftershow in Los Angeles recently. But he's dressing the best since, what, the Come era?

I've actually thought of hiring a freelance fashion designer, student or pro to help re-create some of the styles tailored to my body type. I'm of course taller, waist not sooo Prince thin...and I still think it would look cool.

Of course, I won't be wearing the heels. Pants might not be too high waisted and basic at the hem for regular nice shoes. But I think most of Prince's styles can be used by others.

And yeah, there are era's in which his clothing really IS PRINCE ONLY! Definetly, but that's cool.

A lot of his outfits have been really cool over the years, but I think they would only look good on him.

I could not imagine anyone else in his duds.

Prince's style is uniquely his own, It wouldn't work for the masses.

Nice Try, Thanks for playin

Slightly off topic, but nonetheless somewhat related: I would like the NPGMC to create and sell prince pajama pants, perhaps solid cream-colored pants with about 3/4 inch black prince's printed all over in all directions. The NPGMC logo could replace prince in the concept as well. They would be nice to wear around town when I felt like dressing comfy. smile
