He hurt his ankle during a show but I don't think he fell. He's kinda like a cat he always lands on his feet. He used to run and slide across the stage like he was stealing home. It was always funny to me, like he secretly has a baseball fettish. He could probably make it to home every time he tried back in the day if U know what I mean.

His performance was severly embarassing on that occaision, extremely rude in the worst possible sense.

MJ & JB were cool, though.

I've seen him make other mistakes, but he can improvise very well.
Singin' the stunning "Fury" at the brit awards, early in the first lines he forgets the words.

Alladins cave, Where he sings a song called "U want me" he forgets the words, or fails 2 make them up. But whatever.

He's fallen down countless times..I've seen him do it at least 3 or 4 times and I've only seen a very small fraction of shows.

A lot of times when he falls, he will try to play it off like he did it on purpose but you can usually tell when it isn't.

In the 90's while on my way 2 see Prince and Chaka at the Forum in Inglewood, CA the radio announced that Prince concert had been cancelled due 2 him falling and injuring his ankle. I was like eek this can't be. I was hoping my musical hero was ok. I was really upset since I had floor seats. Once we got 2 the Forum there were thousands of people in the parking lot and streets all hyped up 2 see Prince. Limos were everywhere; the Forum was all lit up in Purple lights. So many people were unaware of the cancellation. People were shocked as well as me that his show was cancelled. I met these 2 girls that had flown in from Europe just 2 see him and told them the news. They were so shocked and had this unbelievable look on there face. I really felt bad 4 them.

While standing in line 2 purchase tickets (Mine u, I had great seats because I was right there the day tickets went on sale) I met this one lady who was seeing Prince 4 the first time. She said her young daughter in her early twenties was a big fan of Prince. Her room everything was Prince, said she was going on behalf of her daughter who had recently died tombstone (R.I.P.) in a car accident. She said this is what her daughter would have wanted her 2 do. I was so hoping 2 see the mother at the concert since we were in line together and would have set next 2 each other.

Could someone please let me know what year this happened....

I was at that show. It looked like a dance move until he started grimacing and they brought him a stool to finish the show- He played the guitar sitting. guitar It ended abruptly and they took him to the emergency room. It was in Atlantic City in 1998. A roadie had put an oil-based liquid in the fog machine instead of water-based. Chaka Khan fell, too. She busted her ass, tho! eek (but she didn't get hurt- she was just embarrassed and pissed!)

Omg! he forgot the words?! I've seen the Brit awards performance a few times and I didn't catch that! I guess that I'll have to watch it again now, that not I have any compliants, the Brit Awards performance was overall one of my all-time favorites.

That's crazy... and I thought Prince was perfect, that blows my image of him...

No, I'm just kidding, Prince.

I guess his errors (as rare as they are) just prove that he's human and I forget that sometimes.

Oh, I don't care. Prince is as close to perfection as they come. But this thread is great. I had no idea.

That YouTube clip with MJ and James Brown... it was painful to watch, I'm just glad the picture wasn't all that good cuz it just looked plain awkward.

I checked something else in my scrapbook for someone and I noticed that I had cut out a "blurb" about it from Jet magazine to include with my ticket stub: "The Artist And Chaka Khan Fall On Stage In Atlantic City; Injured, He Reschedules Dates on Tour" was the title. One line reads, "...had to postpone the remaining dates on his concert tour..." cool

Alladins cave, Where he sings a song called "U want me" he forgets the words, or fails 2 make them up. But whatever.

The lyrics to 'U Want Me' were printed on the NPG website months earlier, and 'blah blah blah' was part of the lyric.

whisper things so lovingly...
blah blah blah, we were meant 2 be
u want me

It makes perfect sense in the within the context of what's being said.

I'm not sure with the BRITS performance. Does he forget the lyric or is he just so involved in the song that a moan/scream seemed more appropriate at the time?

Actually, that's a possibility too. Prince loves to improvise and he makes it seem so natural because he does get caught up in the moment. That's why he's such a different person offstage than he is onstage.
