1997 Oprah interview&Emancipation I just saw the Oprah interview last night on HQ. Yes, I know, I am behind everyone here, but as I have said on other threads, I have been busy with babies, etc.....and now have time to catch up..thank God for computers and HQ!!!!
Anyway, it was really a great interview...Just wish I could have seen it on my big screen in the living room instead of on the computer monitor. But it was still wonderful! Prince never actually said their baby died. It was so sad looking at the playroom he had at Paisley, saying he wanted 10 kids!!! He was so sweet in that interview I could go on and on about how I hung onto his every word...I was just really touched. Now I want to buy the Emancipation CD!! Was anyone else as touched by this as crazy me

Peeps will come on here and slate him for that interview, just want you to remember that Prince has a policy of 'the show must go on' , he was in an impossible situation and dealt with it [rightly or wrongly] the best way he knew how. I find it hard to watch for obvious reasons and cannot listen to 'sex in the summer' . He and Mayte went through a bad period but both seem to be O.K. now.
By the way I though Oprah handled him really well.

I won't be able to get to my computer in my dorm for a while today, so I want to know how long it is before checking it out. I've been saving it for a while, actually because since the Ellen interview (my hands down favorite outside of the 2003 Australian morning show interview that YouTube once had and will never be seen again) was such a long one, but in a good way. It'll give me something to look forward to when I get back from classes. I'd very much like to see him sing "Emancipation" because I read the lyrics and they're really good. I'm sure it's one of his best songs just based on that alone. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I watched the interview a while ago on HQ, and he did really well. Him and Mayte never looked so happy. Soul mate-One of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity.

By the way I though Oprah handled him really well. i never thought bad of him for how that interview was handled. it was an awkward situation for everyone - for him and mayte, for oprah, for everyone involved. prince is a private person and he spent so much time building up the emancipation album and his new 'family man' image...when it all came crashing down suddenly, i think he handled it as gracefully as he could.

It was So funny when they were talking about the underwear!

Besides the part where Prince and Mayte say they will always be together and they will have 10 kids, I also remember him saying that he will ALWAYS live in Minnesota. Sad that none of that came true.

I have it up on my myspace page... he seemed so vulnerable. I wouldn't have answered the question either. It was too private & too soon after the fact. I always feel for him when she asked "will this be forever?" and Mayte says "yes" and his face is like a little boy.

I love the Oprah interview. I love when he says that he loves to play basketball :touch:, so cute.
It's sad to watch at times, especially while talking about the baby. I felt bad for Mayte. It seemed as though she was unable to speak about it, so she just akwardly smiled and looked at Prince and the floor. So sad. Smooches;)

Prince doesn't want to talk about boxers, Ellen, quiet pesting the poor guy. I can't believe he actually ran with that. I really got a kick out of the Ellen interview because it really showed "personal Prince" in a way that I had never seen before. It was a lot to take in because that's how much he amazes me. Over the past 4 weeks, I've slowly gotten aquainted with his work, but really got to know the personal/interview side of him and I really like what I see. I can't wait to see how the Oprah interview shows "personal Prince" as well as Emancipation, that song I can't wait to hear. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. Is the Ellen interview available anywhere???I got the 'impression' Prince doesn't wear draws, just collects them..I loved the interview especially the Sleep Around performance when he's dancing on the piano then jumps off...He's the man...I think Oprah's last question totally surprised him and his response was prolific...What a guy.

The Ellen interview's also on Housequake and I definitely recommend it. I think that whole thing about the 'impression' you're getting is just fan hype. I don't believe it for a second. When it comes to Prince, when I want to know the facts, I'll get them from an interview or it comes from his mouth. I try not to read too much into the type of information. I think that all started on the "Prince's Clothes" threads... but I don't buy it personally. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I think I've finally figured something out. Something about him just touches my soul. I can't quite explain it, but this interview did that more so than any of the others I've seen before it. While watching the scenes with him and Mayte, I almost wanted cry cuz it's just so romantic. Since then, tears have wanted to pour out, something about him reaches me that my soul is what's crying. And he just makes me want to be truer to myself. I guess that means I should start making a list of things I feel when I watch his interviews, his music videos and listen to his voice. It's like an endless list, maybe as long as the list of songs Prince has written... nah, maybe 1/100 of that list. I could really feel the love between him and Mayte. What happened between them? They seemed so perfect for each other and he was so happy with her. I find that so sad that they didn't make it. Nonetheless, the interview was worth waiting for and I've come to the conclusion that Prince reaches me in a place nobody else can and he just makes me so happy. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. I saw both interviews and I had already seen the Oprah interview around Christmas...My favorite part was when he's at the piano...If only to see that up close and in person one day. I just taught myself how to play the 'hook' to Karmasutra and How come you don't call me anymore...and I would love to play with him (pun intended But I know what you mean about Emancipation Disc 2...It's a spiritual thing...

Yeah, the song he did at the end was really good. I wanted to get up and dance, but wow, he was all the over the place. He was dancing on the piano and doing splits... but that whole thing in the station and him playing Purple Rain on the piano just got to me, made me wanna cry. It's just so beautiful and so is his music and his soul. [in response to Jesse McCartney's song, "Beautiful Soul"] you don't know what a beautiful soul is until you've seen Prince [in person or in an one-on-one interview]. Actually, beautiful soul doesn't even cover Prince because he's SO MUCH more than that. There is no limit to what he can do as there is no limit to the number of words that describe him. To be completely honest, I don't think there is one word in the English language that can describe him in one word, except that overall, he is "indescribable" had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. Glad you enjoyed it, I loved it even more the second time when I watched it with my husband..he's not into Prince like I am, but I could tell he was really into the interview. I don't really know what happened between him and Mayte...or with his second wife Manuela....maybe I don't want to know.....

I saw that interview, it really was sweet the way that he and Mayte loved each other and very sad about their son and they're breakup, my daughter who is not a child says that Prince ALWAYS seems so sad to her even when he's smiling, all the way back to Purple rain. Deep in Prince's soul, he is sad.

Wow. Is all i really have to say. That interview was so touching. He's such a talened person. It made me cry, everything makes me cry. He's a sensitive person, I think thats what tuches us. So what ever happend to the baby? Is the baby alive dead? Daddy, you made that grace your bitch.

I have been wanting to see this forever, thanks for telling us where to find it and I belong to HQ, I thought all videos were deleted for some reason. Anyway I really enjoyed the video but also think it was pretty sad. Especially when they talk about their son and how P says he was teased when he was younger about his height and that he feels that is where his other person came about, the one is said wasn't sure if it was female or male. Sad how people don't realize how much teasing and saying hurtful things to a young person can affect that person for the rest of their lives. Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

Yeah, and people are always criticizing him it seems even his so called fans, wanting to do and be what they want, losing his parents and child, 2 failed marriages and lawsuits and and disputes with record companies, it's a wonder he has survived the stress this long but faith and the loyalty of his true fans have gotten him thru and will continue to do so- Love you Prince! I don't think all that money and awards mean anything when he closes his eyes at night.http://www.housequake.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=70767
