Somehow, someway, I never knew about this song until recently. Because it was never an official Prince release and I've never known much about his side projects, it went under my radar.
I just heard it for the first time (by the Bangles)...it is light yet perfectly addictive! This is my new favorite getting ready for work song. Who else loves this song?

Sooo, my 13 year old daughter thinks I am wierd for being a Prince fan. She just "doesn't get it" so it goes. Last week I am driving her to school, and I listen to her singing in the backseat while listening to her ipod. What is she singing along to you ask? Manic Monday! I ask her if she loves that song, she is like, yeah!! it's the best!! Made my heart proud to announce to her it was written by none other then...Prince!!

Yeah, I was more familiar with this song than most likely most Prince fans were where they first heard he wrote it.

Of course, I just found out a few months ago that he wrote it. Then 4 weeks ago, I made the connection that it's melody is identical to 1999. I read that he recycled the melody from 1999 for Manic Monday, which he wrote for Susanna Hoffs, who he was apparently in love with for a short time. It's kinda sweet, really.
