From the moment I heard "Adore", I was in love with this man. Any man who can write lyrics like that and sing them like they really mean every word, defintitely has my full attention. If I saw a guy who looked just like Prince walking down the street, I would talk to him and see what he's about. I don't think Prince's appearance is any stranger than guys who wear their pants hanging off their asses, or guys who look like they just rolled out of bed and put something on that might be clean. I think he's handsome just the way he is (makeup, heels, and all); and I wouldn't change anything about him...plus, he's my height, without the heels, so I could actually look into his eyes when I'm talking to him and not have to stare at his chest hairs, like I have to do with every other guy. He's clean-cut, confident, and knows how to rock a suit (I LOVE A MAN IN A SUIT!!!!). Plus, I've been told by more than one person who has met him that he smells good.

I heard Prince long before I ever saw him and I liked what I heard. His incomparable talent and creativity is what initially got my attention.

The fact that he's as cute as a basket of kittens, with mesmerizing eyes and sexy as all getout certainly doesn't hurt, but the world is full of cute sexy people. If the brotha couldn't throw down like he does I'd have lost interest long ago.

But the thing that I find most attractive about Prince is his extraordinary mind. He has a way of expressing himself that resonates deeply with me for whatever reason.

Since he's only a couple of years older than me, I was well past crushes on pop stars by the time Prince came along...I'm sure he'd be very interesting to talk to though.

Prince transcends any type of definition. Just when you think you "know" Prince, who you thought you knew is gone and a new element of Prince emerges. His music is a part of him, he explores that part, but that music reflects something much deeper, much greater, and he brings it forth so beautifully, so soulfully, so lovingly, that one wonders how one can ever feel bad about anything with Love so easily at hand. And I don't know about anyone else, but anyone that can sing so beautifully about True Beauty, True Love, Truth, will pull me in so deeply that I get lost in the Love.

I always learn something new and he's just full of surprises. And his eyes do get to me, that's probably what I noticed first after his music of course. I could go on and on about what he does to me (see my poem on page 1), he makes me want to reach deep inside myself when I'm writing poetry about him in hopes I could try to reach the same level of his lyrics (I doubt I ever will, he's closer to the sky's limit than anyone else).

For me it was when I was around 16 (I'm 40 now), I wasn't attracted to that many boys at school, they were all dorks (could be cute but too youngish). I liked his looks but I remember that the thing that hooked me was when I heard the song "Free". I always felt different, like I had a different view on the world cuz of stuff that happened when I was growing up, and I heard that song and that did it, I said "this dude gets it, he understands me..." I still have both that physical and intellectual attraction to him. He is definitely deep, and I love it!

Well his pic in Right On mag '78 is what initially got me, so looks came first for me. It wasn't until his later work, "Private Joy", "Controversy", that I began to see him for more than just a pretty face. It was the way he lyrically put things and delivered them musically that really got me even more attracted to him. So it has always been more than just his look that won me over.
I was once interviewed in line at the Hit N Run Tour by an local access station in Chicago and when asked why I was standing in the freezing cold to see Prince perform, my answer wasn't the typical cause he's hot or sexy, I went into how he turns me on musically. Of course they looked at me like

I used to have a crush when I was a little girl. When people used to say he was 5'5" or 5'6" I hoped that I wouldn't grow taller then that. It only took me two minutes to grow taller than that when I was pre-teen.

He has sexy moments, but I just love men in general. I give props, but that doesn't mean I want him. I love when dudes are individuals (Prince's look) and a little cocky about it (he struts around like he is the sh*t).

I was also dealing with a painful sore throat, but having all of those songs rushing through my head (actually, it was mostly a mix between 1999/Little Red Corvette/Raspberry Beret/Purple Rain) robbed me a few hours of sleep.

The Little Red Corvette video is a story all its own cuz it was the first Prince video I checked out after the SuperBowl (exactly 1 month ago tonight ). The song overall has so many addictive points, including the orchestration of the music, but I love the video because Prince dances.
I haven't physically rewound it, but I've seen the video so many times that in my mind, I like to rewind and replay his dancing during the instrumental break. Something about it is just SO COOL, to put it in the fewest words possible.

I'm obsessed with that video, but I can only watch it at most twice a day cuz I'd wear it down.

I am not silly enough to be "in love" with the man. I enjoy looking at pleasant looking people, I like figuring out what it is about them that makes them attractive to everyone else. People in general fascinate me, If I could live behind a oneway mirror and just watch people for hours and make a living at it I would b in heaven.
At any rate, I think the man is captivating. The ideas caught me first. Th music was funky/rythmic enough...i like that. But the words began seeping in shortly and I was fascinated with the imagery they awakened, and the reaction they provoked in public, which amused me no end because I found it harmless, though thought provoking. I love the voice though, I'd have liked Prince if I were blind (and some times I wished I were..not always perfect you know, none of us are). There were times I couldn't look away because the performance was spot on, and there were times that it was like a bad wreck and you wondered-whaat the hell is all this about? But you have to say, it was never boring, and each album held something in it for me.(Except I never figured out rainbow children and thought it was a collossal waste of my time and money--- your religious fantasies are a private matter as far as I'm concerned and yes thats just my opinion. I woulda skipped it had i known) I digress.
He captivates me the way a still person in a room full of activity draws your attention. The way a whisper makes you lean forward and concentrate. And isn't that weird that these are the similes i use to describe my reaction to a person who is often described as flambouyant by others?

Who knows why we are attracted to the people we are attracted to. I am one of those people that likes to believe it is deeper than most people think it is.
But then physical attraction has never holded me for long..sounds like alot of the ladies on here feel the same way..because the music is so personal we assume this is the person he is...

...for me listening to his music is uplifting and reduces stress in my life. I feel very hopeful and optimistic when I listen to Prince...and reading interviews with him was just as great because I loved knowing that there are other people in the world that think about deeper things and alternatives than to most of the shallow people I was exposed to...so I always respected Prince for speaking his mind no matter how it came off to others...you just know he isn't trying to be controversial...he is just expressing that oddball, unique, different personality he has (which I can relate to. ) He used music to deal with the problems in his life and make himself happy and now he is ontop of the world...don't we all wish we could find our calling and find peace with life by doing what we are good at and other's appreciate?

...with Prince using the word charisma to describe the attraction doesn't seem to do it justice.

Sure, I do admire and respect him greatly, but he'd see worship as a little much if I happened to tell him that, if I'm ever fortunate enough to meet him. If we're fated to meet, then it will happen, but if not, that's okay too.

The presence he had in that video is unlike the others before it. I can't even describe it and it's already hard enough to describe Prince and do him justice.
