Happy Feet okay, I'm annoyed. Happy Feet just won the Oscar for animated film, and I'm still mad that Prince got bypassed on a nomination for his song. What is that?? Win a Golden Globe, but not even get nominated for an Oscar? Please correct me- I'm not a big watcher of TV/Movie award shows, but isn't that a bit unusual? (and btw, this whole post has nothing to do with whether I like Song of the Heart or not, I just believe he should have been nominated). Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

i don't think the song was featured during the movie so it didn't qualify. it was played during the credits...or perhaps they just didn't care for it. | |

Either the song didn't fit the movie according to their specifications or they didn't care for the song. | |

But still- my understanding was always that you could get an idea of where the Ocars were going by the GG's. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

yeah, I'm not really watching- it's on in the background while I'm on the computer. I only have it on because my office does an Oscar pool. I think I'm doing pretty bad so far (beyond Happy Feet and Cars, I don't even know any of these movies!!) but haven't been paying enough attention to know for sure...

On the 3121 website there was a page offering up the song 'for your consideration' so it seemed to imply Prince's camp thought it was eligible. So I guess they just didn't like it. | |

So we'll just dismiss "Song of the Heart" and nominate Prince just because he's Prince? The song isn't that great, and frankly up against people like veteran James Taylor, or Melissa Etheridge, plus 3 new songs from Dreamgirls, he has NO chance at the Oscar's this year. He's better off w/ a Golden Globe. Just because the film wins, doesn't mean Prince is going to win anyway. His wasn't the only song in the film. The Golden Globes do NOT always reflect who is going to be nominated by the Academy, or even win an Oscar. They are two totally different entities. So no it's not the usual bit. | |

plenty of other examples of GG winners that were not even mentioned at the Oscars
those awards shows are just opportunities for the movie industry, etc. to have a big party and feel good about themselves..... Peter Otoole snubbed 8 times! gotta love it | |
