It might be just me, but from the moment Prince says "Watch out now", 1:40 into Guitar...

...up until about 2:11, and the end of the middle solo, is a mini-tour of all things that define Prince. It encapsulates the sound that made him famous, and includes a wonderfully 'Prince' - uh-huh - half way through the melange of sound!

Whilst Guitar isn't the greatest song he's released - it's nostalgic and that wins too... I think.

I truly dig it.

It's like a cross between 1981 and 1986. Still sounds very fresh though.

Also, the minimalist approach, with minimal effects... nearly a dry recording.

Yeah. Dig it... especially through good speakers.

OK... So after listening 2 it again, which was the fourth time, through my Event studio monitors, I really, seriously dig this. From the musical level, in terms of the music and it's arrangement, 2 the sonic level, in terms of sounds used, and how they're mixed. Voice, perfect. Guitar, perfect. Diggin' the Dirty Mind era Bass Guitar... Also, the choice 4 the heavy use of acoustic drum kit sounds, of course played by Prince, was particularly enjoyable, so 2 speak...

Peace.

G.

say it quietly... this song is growing on me.... and yet I KNOW it's nowhere near his best work... nowhere near his worst work... (except Graffiti Bridge, of course... I fart better noises than that crapulent dirge).
