Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic 1989 Do you think The 1989 Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic would have been a better album than Batman.
I don't think there was ever a final configuration as with the Dream Factory but we do know a lot of the songs that appear on the various configurations and there was some great stuff included. I think the Batman album is a good album but I think the Rave project would have been better. On one album we may have had Rave/God Is Alive/Pink Cashmere/Moonbeam Levels/If I had A Harem/Electric Chair/The Voice Inside/Still Would Stand All Time.

Moonbeam Levels is a 1999 outtake and Cashmere was intended for Lovesexy.

Moonbeam Levels was revamped in 1989 and included on a configuration of Rave un2 the Joy fantastic. Pink Cashmere was also included on a configuration. There is a handwritten tracklist I've seen before. I'm pretty sure Pink Cashmere was never intended for Lovesexy.

I personally think that "Rave" would have tanked big time in 1989. Though the songs listed are good, there is no real hit material included. Don't forget that "Lovesexy" was a commercial disaster in the U.S. (though it did o.k. in Europe), and I highly doubt that a Prince album without the support of the "Batman" hype would've done anything sale-wise in the U.S. in 1989.

I've never heard of Pink Cashmere being on Lovesexy.
Wasn't it recorded after Lovesexy was released. What makes you think it was on Lovesexy?

Lovesexy had been completely recorded and sequenced by the end of January '88 and was actually RELEASED on May 10th 1988! (almost a month before Pink Cashmere had even been recorded!) However we DO know that Pink Cashmere was included on one of the sequences of Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic (there are scans of the tracklist in prince's own handwriting out there to prove it).
