If you can get your hands on "The Wild Experience-Get Wild" 3 song CD maxi, do so. As far as I know, this is the only disc that has the track "Beautiful Girl", an instrumental version of TMBGITW featuring Eric Leeds on lead sax.

Unless it says Eric Leeds in the book...
Sorry to say but WRONG! (Don;t take it personally cuz sometimes I am wrong too)

The Sax Version of "Beautiful Girl" is done by Brian Gallagher & is available on the original promo of the Beautiful Experience which was yellow.

Actually, jseven, it does say Eric Leeds on the insert. And it sounds different than the Brian Gallagher version - can't say how exactly - it just has Eric's style all over it. Remember when Eric played Beautiful Girl at the second Emporium aftershow in 1995? That was this version.

As far as I know, this is the only CD copy of this track.

Tom

I didn't mind the swearing at all, I honestly never paid much attention to it.

The whole album was quite fun and playful.

Good Life is the jam. The video even aired on BET with Prince's face mostly hidden under a veil of chains or something throughout the vid.

Overall good album. Three things bug me about it though:

  • Prince doesn't sing lead on all of songs; Sonny T. fart
  • Too much cursing; it's just over the top and annoying
  • The segues are fun to listen to every blue moon, but not everytime I play the album

There is a load of cursing on it. Prince was younger mind you, as was I, but it seems cool at the time. He was kind of pissed off, and it showed. Hard to go from 20 years of cursing in songs, and then go clean. Come to think about it, I don't curse half as much as I used to amymore. I don't know if that comes from age or influence.

The majority of the songs Prince released between 1978 and 1993 didn't have an excessive amount of cursing on them. Exodus' swear content was so over the top it distracted the listener from the music.

I agree that the majority of music between those periods did not have excessive cursing. Exodus did. I don't think the album would work today (especially for Prince).
I don't think it distracted from the music, Given the content, I think it was expressive and obviously said something about his mood at the time.

The Sax Version of "Beautiful Girl" is done by Brian Gallagher & is available on the original promo of the Beautiful Experience which was yellow.

It is also on the Japanese Import of 1-800-New Funk along with an extended "Standing At the Altar" & Mayte singing "The Most Beautiful Boy in the World".

I like the sax version n made the top 10 list of most played version at weddings in a poll of 1994.

Brian Gallagher also released a single version of it on Bellmark Records on Cd & Cassette in the U.S.

Yes, it is Eric L. "Produced, Arranged, Composed, and Performed by (Symbol) & Eric Leeds." on the insert.
It is him playing, no doubt about it. Unmistakable sound.

TMBGITW has been performed by a few of Prince's sax side men, including most recently Maceo Parker.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Wrong Squirrelgrease!
Maceo hasn't ever recorded TMBGITW, maybe you are thinking of The Greatest Romance Ever Sold on Maceo's last album, "Dial Maceo" this is a Prince produced and peformed track re-done as instrumental for Maceo's album (and originally from "Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic"...
TMBGITW was a huge hit here in the UK and voted one of the best songs of the 20th Century in a millenium poll conducted in 1999.
