Exodus There is a Prince song called "Exodus" (I think) and I heard it a while ago and really liked it (it was long- a funky up tempo song). Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew what song it is I am talking about and what cd its on. And if it's on some special club cd if anyone could send the song file to me. I got it once on audiogalaxy, but now that's gone and I can't seem to find it.

It's the title song from the NPG album, Exodus. It's a really great album that is hard to find. I believe it was originally sold as an import only. "May U live 2 C the Dawn"

I think the Exodus album was going to be released here, but ultimately never was. There were maxi singles from it released in the US which said "from the forthcoming NPG album..."
I have the maxi singles from this album as well. One of them was remixes of The Good Life(also off the Exodus album) which had a sample of Ice Cube saying "bought a house next to Prince..." The other was a maxi for Get Wild, which had a very very cool jazz instrumental mix on it. The logo on the case was the same as the eyes on the Get Wild perfume bottle. I bought mine at the NPG store in Uptown. It wasn't priced as an import. "Count the Days" is the jam. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

What?
Youve not heard Exodus!! Its a great album far superior to new power soul or even Rave unto the Joy Fantastic. tracks I love on this album: Get Wild - funky "we are conducting a world-wide talent search" Count The Days - reminds me of the performance on The White room where he played nice old epiphone guitar. The Good Life - classic Cherry, Cherry - Sonny T gets all emotional Exodus - dark funk for the masses "Still Crazy 4 Coco Rock"

'Get Wild' was my least fav song on the album. Exodus and 'Return of the Bumpsquad' are my standouts.
'The exodus has begun!'-haven't listened to it in a while, thanks for the reminder.

You must get the Exodus CD simply for the "beans & rice" skit. I laughed my ass off for days after hearing that.
P has a twisted sense of humor at times.

That's right. Very funny piece. I like it best with the one speaker turned off so that you only hear Prince doing his thing without having to listen to the other sketch that is mixed in with it. Hahaha I do the same thing! "Climb in my fur."

Ahhh, Big Fun, guess you can tell that's my favorite...'Psychedelic Mama, tell me girl what's your sign? You and me should get together, it wouldn't be a waste of time'.
When I first heard the 'beans' skit, I couldn't believe how gross P was being and would skip over it everytime. But now, it is just plain HILARIOUS!!! "You can be the President, I'd rather be the Pope"

NPG Exodus.. One Eyed Bass heavy, Michael B. Drum thumpin' funk... A must have for the Prince collection. I believe I got mine from 1-800-NEW-FUNK also at the time. So, it was very available in the U.S.
Released by the NPG instead of O)+> under another label, as a thump to Warner who didn't want flooding the market.. Sonny T. covers a bunch of lead and co-lead vocals on it. Count the days is just great. . Great video also.. is credited as Tora Tora on the album and was performing the songs in a mask or scarf actually to conceal his face...Prince plays his one-eyed slap bass on most of the album It came out right before The Gold Experience. Most of the tunes were recorded around the time of those sessions. Too funky. I've seen the following videos: Videos: Count The Days, Get Wild, The Good Life. VH1 aired two of them during a speacial in late '95/early '96. "I don't know what you thinkin' about, but the Exodus Has Begun.. Motha Fuckas!" http://npgmusicclub.com/n...xodus.html [This message was edited Thu Sep 12 13:34:55 PDT 2002 by cracknbush] cracknbush

There is a load of cursing on it. Prince was younger mind you, as was I, but it seems cool at the time. He was kind of pissed off, and it showed. Hard to go from 20 years of cursing in songs, and then go clean. Come to think about it, I don't curse half as much as I used to amymore. I don't know if that comes from age or influence. cracknbush

If you can get your hands on "The Wild Experience-Get Wild" 3 song CD maxi, do so. As far as I know, this is the only disc that has the track "Beautiful Girl", an instrumental version of TMBGITW featuring Eric Leeds on lead sax.
The best version of this song as far as i'm concerned. The other 2 songs are "Get Wild" (different mix) and "Hallucination Rain" On the inside cover it says backwards: "Free the Gold Experience @#&%@#!(*&^)@, Now!" If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Unless it says Eric Leeds in the book... Sorry to say but WRONG! (Don;t take it personally cuz sometimes I am wrong too) The Sax Version of "Beautiful Girl" is done by Brian Gallagher & is available on the original promo of the Beautiful Experience which was yellow. It is also on the Japanese Import of 1-800-New Funk along with an extended "Standing At the Altar" & Mayte singing "The Most Beautiful Boy in the World". I like the sax version n made the top 10 list of most played version at weddings in a poll of 1994. Brian Gallagher also released a single version of it on Bellmark Records on Cd & Cassette in the U.S. Silence Speaks A Thousand Words.

The majority of the songs Prince released between 1978 and 1993 didn't have an excessive amount of cursing on them. Exodus' swear content was so over the top it distracted the listener from the music. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i think EXODUS is a very nice album - especially HALLUCINATION RAIN is one of the most beautiful songs from that era. but the whole interlude/segue stuff really pisses me off.
i bought my copy at a local mini-supermarket for 2 Euros. i REALLY was surprised to find it there.

So went out & bought this album after reading all that u wrote here.
At first listen, am enjoying it. The segues resemble De La Soul's earlier work. when Prince does things under a pseudonym, back when he still had 2. With his freedom, it looks like those days r over. have a feeling will b listening 2 this all weekend.
