one thing Prince could learn from TTD...

PACKAGING! Not a new topic, but I just got my copy of WildCard in the mail and the CD case is so thick & strong! Well made, not your standard case that breaks if you look @ it the wrong way.

This will certainly hold up better than my TRC case, which was fucked up within a few months - the teeth that hold the CD in couldn't wait to fall out. You should see the pathetic crap I had to rig just to keep the CD w/ it's original "casing". neutral

Since P is very into mailing things out these days, I'd love for him to look into more sound packaging.

Now, as for something TTD/Sananda could learn from Prince: the value of a GOOD PHOTOGRAPH! Who took these pictures for WildCard?!! My boy looks like he just rolled out of bed, morning breath & all! He would have been better off w/ more candid shots of himself working, lounging, whatever. Why pose for such uninspired pics? fart
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Prince should listen to WildCard, it might remind him how to record a good album too.

I agree, TTD looks scraggly in those pics, a far cry from Vibrator.

lol Some of his website photos are that way, too. There's one that looks like he has a beer belly. I guess he really is European at heart. eek

Calhoun Sq...can you find Wildcard in stores or do you need to order it via his website?

You think WildCard is better than TRC?

i do...even with the couple clunkers on it, it keeps my interest a lot longer then TRC did...TRC now gets *zero* radioplay with me...

Yes, TTD has always had a knack for putting some top-shelf tunes on his albums, songs I just can't get enough of:

1) Wishing Well
2) To Know Someone Deeply is to Know Someone Softly
3) Seasons
4) Holding on to You
5) Sweetness

Those songs, as representative singles from his 5 albums always bowl me over. Terence's voice is one of rock n' roll's best, no question.

but, yeah, the Wildcard photos aren't the most flattering.

Ouch! Ya think? I don't care too much for "If you let me stay," but I think he had a fairly strong debut album. It doesn't come close to "Neither Fish Nor Flesh," which is, to me, his best work. But, I think he should be proud of that debut.

I'm pretty sure you can order it at Amazon, but I bought it from his site. I think it may be a bit cheaper from him directly (shipping & all) so compare before you buy...

I don't think WildCard is better than TRC. TRC is a more solid effort, nearly song for song, loaded. WildCard is great & I'm really digging it but TTD albums have always been a bit hit & miss for me - songs I absolutely ADORE combined with songs I never, ever listen to. I STILL listen to TRC & the only song I skip is 1+1+1=3. neutral

Wow, 2 bold statements!

I liked most of "Hardline", love it actually. Still sounds good today, IMO.

"Fish nor Flesh" is the ONE TTD album I took back to the store! Maybe I was being impatient @ the time but I just couldn't stand it (outside the one single from that album). Wonder if I'm missing out here... confused

I gotta agree: It's up there, as songs go, CalhounSq. I mean ... vocally, you get a strong feel for his old-soul influences in his phrasing. Musically, you get this gentle, melancholy peace that transforms at the end with the uplifting "do-do-do's" ... oh, it's a gem. I once made a Terence tape for a friend of mine, and (i didn't know) it ran out at that point of the song. When she returned it, my friend was fuming: "That last song gets cut off! I need to hear the rest! How could you do that to me???!??" She was incensed. It was a hoot.

A buddy of mine has that soft vocal texture like Terence. Every now and then, when he sings, I think: "Man..." nod

The first time I heard Sweetness, I was driving home from work. I got to the first verse and decided to drive around a little while I heard the whole song some more. That's a bad man...

Calhoun, I've never seen the man in concert. The closest I've come is that "Hardline" video, which is probably what hooked me, all those years ago. All that energy, the cool covers and on-stage bravado. And THE VOICE. I played the tape for my then-girlfriend last year, and she couldn't believe how good he was.

Now, that he seems to limit his touring to Europe, it might never happen for me. disbelief

I was playing much Prince music and TTD
music in my car lately for a NON-Prince
and NON-TTD fan.

I couldn't get thru ANY Prince CDs--
she couldn't tolerate them...but TTD
I could play all the way thru without
her distress...

NOT friends with this person anymore...

Regardless even though TTD is more commercialized, his stuff is great.

That's pretty harsh IMO. The only songs I skip are Who's Loving You (leave that to a 10 year old MJ) & As Yet Untitled... neutral I love that album!
