Because I watched Purple Rain... and I was excited and then I bought the record and I was excited excited headbang

Then I bought "Sign "o" the Times" and that was it... I was obsessed with the man...

Then he released 3121 and I was excited and then I bought Musicology biggrin

I just thought he is incredible... a true genious.
And now-a-days music doesn't satisfy me that much. Only like 6 artists.
So Prince came along like a cool breeze on a summer's day biggrin and he truly changed my life nod

hug Prince

If you haven't already picked up all his CDs, try:

The Gold Experience (may need to get it on ebay--hard to find)
LoveSexy
and Parade

Lovesexy and Parade... 2 of my favourites

When I saw the video to When Doves Cry. What sealed the deal was hearing the Purple Rain album a few years later. I knew from that night that I was a fan for life.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

i was at a Lena Lovich concert at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, CO - Think it was 1982 . . . The pre-show music was the entire Dirty Mind album. This was back when the pre-show music was as important as the opening act.

Lena was great, but what i took away from that night was what a vivid memory of Prince's Dirty Mind masterpiece. It's almost like it just happened yesterday.

That's was the moment that i became a Prince fan.

it was when sign of the times came out, (i was 9 yrs old), the 1st track i heard was i could never....., it just bowled me over and the rest is history!!!

The year was '82 & everry morning before school"Litle Red Corvette" would be on the radio. Every morning! I heard it so much I got sick of it real fast. I was tired of hearing about this man they called Prince. Sick of him I tells ya. The DJ would always talk about how many instuments he could play & how old he was during his first recording, bla, bla. I didn't hear anything impressive in the song. I couldn't understand what the fuss was all about. I though he's no Stevie Wonder. Then I saw the video for LRC I was amazed at his performance but still I had my doubts. So I asked a friend to play me his copy of 1999. It was Lady Cab Driver that did it for me. I was a fan after hearing the first line " Lady Cab Driver.....can you take me for a ride?"

Too young to really remember but I loved Soft and Wet with the breathing I was lusting and didn't even know it( we were studying anatomy with Sister Patricia and lust was a sin lol). I remember walking to school with my Walkman I got for my fourteenth birthday playing Controversy over and over and over. My big sister was into rap and the radio in our belonged to her so I went through a lot of AA batteries.

I became a fan when I hears Still Waiting.

I would've loved to see Lena Lovitch back in the day. I'm jealous.

I always liked his music since I was little but my cousin took me to see one of his concert in L.A. in 1992 when I was like 11 or 12 years old and I was hooked. Before then the only two concerts I had seen was a double bill of P.M. Dawn/New Edition (which was fun, but not all wild like a prince show) and The Boys! lol

What a great track!
How about "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?"?
I love the solo & his drumming.
So much better than some machine.

Yes, Why You Wanna is another great track. I'm a huge fan of the first 4 albums.

The first time I ever saw Prince (as far as I can remember) is when I watched the Diamonds and Pearls video at age 9. He left an impression on me even then. I had a dream about him that night, and kept seeing the strands of pearls in front of his cute face. A face like Prince's can stick in a child's mind, that's for sure. biggrin

BUT

The fateful moment where I knew I'd found my hero came 4 years later.....

1995 VH1 Fashion Awards. He said P*ssy on TV. eek He looked hot. I was hooked.

The end!
