Live for love/black sweat

hello!

Anybody else noticed that black sweats synth line is the same melody as the 'live for love' accapela chant which prince used to do on the diamonds and pearls tour.

everyday is a school day

It's not the same other than the interval between the first two notes is the same (albeit in a different key) i.e. there is similarity

the whole line is the same - not just the interval between the initial G# and the f#

Black Sweat

G# F# B | F# B Ab

Live 4 Love

Eb Dd Bb | Eb Db Bb\G

Transcribing the Live 4 Love melody to match the first G# would give:

G# F# Eb | G# F# Eb\C

u do realise that i am refering to princes solo voice and not the huge multilayered voicing, right?

it isnt on the record or its transcription. I think.. although not entirely sure.. that it can be heard on the version of live for love which was made availible from the npg music club.

I suspect we are simply listening / watching different versions of the song being performed live.

The one I have described has Prince leading the audience at the outset. Aside from the NPGMC release on audio and video, the song has been released officially on video (Diamonds and pearls) as well as unofficial audio and video live takes.
