Prince - Purple House song available on iTunes This may be old news for some, but I found Prince's version of Hendrix's song on iTunes. If you search under Prince, you will never find it. You must search Hendrix as artist, and Tribute as the album title. Then you can select "Soul Free: a tribute to Jimi Hendrix". You can download "Prince - Purple House" individually for .99 cents.
Now if only i could get "Song of the Heart" without buying the whole soundtrack.... | |

I just bought "Power of Soul: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix" yesterday at Best Buy. I go in there ever once in a while just to look around and it. It came out in 2004. Prince's "Purple House" is Track 4.  "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World" | |

I've always loved the original, and somehow, despite the name change and plastic late-'90s Kirky J / Larry Graham vibe, I enjoy Prince's version more than any other version I've ever heard. This is one of the few Prince tracks that I can listen to on repeat 10 times in a row, and love more each time. Fantastic stuff, and I'm glad it's available for 99c for all those who didn't get the full album (although the whole album is worth it, especially Eric Clapton, Sting and EW&F's tracks). | |
