Small Club or Arena? Where would you prefer to see Prince?
I'd have to say a full blown arena show for me. Y'all?

i liked seeing him at the chicago theatre on the ONA tour - it's a midsized venue, beautiful building inside and out, and it's assigned seating so there's no messing around with general admission obnoxiousness. it's intimate like a club but it has the organization of an arena show. i like that.

Smaller venue for more intimacy and normally better sound.
Larger venue to have a better shot at getting good seats. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Depends on my mood. I'm getting too old for the "standing all night" thing, but I hate to share the experience with 10,000 people who liked "Purple Rain" backinthaday....
[U can tell where people have been for the past how ever many years by who sits down during which segment of the show. ] "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

If the performance is a concert show, then I would pick a small theatre venue over a stadium arena every time.
Beyomnd that,I think the question shifts from venue preference to type of performance i.e. concert show or aftershow jam . [Edited 2/24/07 8:10am] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Ask me when I haven't been close enough to smell him in the last couple weeks. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I think it's apples and oranges and equally good.
Prince is so talented that he does both types of venues VERY well. In general, I like smaller more intimate settings. It seems like when I have been to Paisley Park, or theater sized shows, Prince really let's his musicianship loose. That being said, there is something to be said about the spectacle of an arena sized Prince show. 10,000 plus singing along to "7" is pretty impressive--as is Prince's showmanship when he is showing off for thousands....
