Covers album

Hypothetically if he ever did a covers album of say 10 songs what should they be ?

Here's mine....

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
David Bowie - Hereos
Elton John - Your Song
Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit
The Who - My Generation
James Brown - Sex machine
Michael Jackson - Man in the mirror
Blur - Song 2
Seal - Killer
Terence trent Darby - Let her down easy

What do you think ?

Tell us yours for a bit of fun

Personally I can't see any of these being covered by Prince. SMells Like teen Spirit disbelief I actually don't like it when he covers others material as I haven't heard any that I have liked.

if he did a bowie song, i'd MUCH prefer he cover "win" from the "young americans" album. i think that song is perfectly suited for prince's voice and style.

I always thought Prince should've done a covers album as part of his deal to
get out of his WB contract back in '94/'95 rather than putting them on his
regular albums (like Emancipation & Rave). It would have been a good way of
delivering an album without giving away any of his own songs.

OK...the SB covers were really good. And his guitar solo during While My Guitar Gently Weeps is simply outstanding. But his covers of Betcha By Golly WOW, One of us, La La La means I love you, Everyday is a winding road, and the clincher for me is his version of Case of You. I didn't like any of these.

Prince can sing anything, and like we saw at the Super Bowl, he can pull of covers just as if they were his own songs.

But one song I would l o v e to hear him sing is "You Could Have It So Much Better" by Franz Ferdiand, only because when Prince talks/sings at the same time(you get what I'm saying?) his voice is all deep, which I think would be perfect for the song. The idea just kinda came to me. cool

I'd like him to do covers of everything ever written by Full Force & Samantha Fox.
That way, if they still sound like shit,
I'd know that I wasn't imagining things the first time around.

i wouldn't mind a decent covers album ala Joan Osbourne's How Sweet It Is from 2002. She did a whole bunch of Motown and 70s soul covers.

Not that Prince has to do all soul covers. I'd be cool if he did out of the way stuff like Bowie or even a Springsteen song. Of course, I'm dying to hear The Foo's The Best Of You. I wonder what he'd do with a Parliament track?
