The best "Emancipation"

I used to only like the first disc of "Emancipation". It had the most stand-out appeal of the three discs for me with "White Mansion", "Somebody's Somebody" (still one of my all time favorite Prince song titles), and "In This Bed eye Scream". Plus, I love his version of "eye Can't Make U Love Me". Last Year, I actually sat down and really listened to disc 2. I know, it's been out 10 years, but hey, it's three disc long and time has never been my friend sad . I have to say that I've really grown to love and appreciate this disc. It shows Prince as a very open and excited, yet vulnerable and curious man. With lyrics like "So long have I, gazed into your eyes. Wondering what they'd look like on a newborn child", I can't help but admire Prince's songwriting abilities even more than ever. Those are some really deep thoughts to share with someone. The amazing story he tells in "Holy River", the exquiste background music on "Curious Child", and a song containing a title like "Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother, Wife", with lyrics like, "If eye ever held a hand, it's only because I'd never held UR hand. That was part of the plan. I had to get it right if I was to be your man", are something that make me melt. I have yet to show any interest in disc 3, but I do enjoy his version of "1 of us", but nothing else has really grabbed by attention on Disc 3.

What on disc 3 would anyone recommend and which disc is ur favorite?

Emancipation often gets a hard time from fans. Personally its one of my favourites, and disc two is the highlight IMHO Disc three does have its moments, and there are some pretty cool jams, but I think you've already heard the best.
Oh, and skip the title track....terrible eek

Jam Of The Year
Right Back Here In My Arms
Mr. Happy
Sex In The Summer
Emale
Curious Child
Dreamin' About U
The Holy River
Let's Have A Baby
Saviour
Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother/Wife
Slave
New World
Face Down
Sleep Around
My Computer
The Love We Make

I think my list gives away the fact that I love this album. I personally think its good enough for a killer double album. 3 Discs pushed it too far and watered it down, but I think this could have stood up to princes other double albums. I just love the obvious and simple songwriting. Theres nothing inventive on this album and I guess I like the easy listening smoothness of it all, but I think there are enough well crafted songs here to stop it being an album I sometimes feel I have to defend.
I think if the production/arrangements sounded a little less rushed, this could have been a very commercially successful double album.

Love "Emancipation" especially "White Mansion," "In This Bed eye Scream," "I Can't Make U Love Me," and of course "Emancipation." Great cd that should have been more successful.

I only really like Jam of the Year and Slave. Joint 2 Joint is cool, the cover of Betcha by Golly is also lush, but many others have the same plastic sound that people criticize New Power Soul for, I personally think this album has the same sound as far as beats (if not even more generic and un-prince) on the more generic sounding songs.

I forgot his name, Kirk...Kirky J, whatever. Yeah his drum programing is generic.

Disc 1 and 2 are hard for me to enjoy. Disc 3 had some pretty tight tracks on it though. Face Down is my current favorite.
